How important are race choices to to class/job choices do you figure?

I know no one's experienced end-game yet to really know (I don't think so anyway), but how seriously should pairing races with classes be taken? Dark Age of Camelot serious or World of Warcraft serious?

They shouldn't be taken seriously at all, just pick what you want to look at.
Differences between one and the other are on the order of a few points of stats. One piece of gear in the teen levels contains more stat difference than there is between races.
lvl 1, not that much
lvl 50, not that much.
