There is an infographic. Basicly ArenaNet sold over 3.5 mln copies and 460k players online at the same time (460k CCU, concurrent users)
Comments
If I recall their previous concurrent user record was from headstart or beta at 400k, I have a feeling that 460k was hit shortly after launch.
The 3.5million copies sold surprises me, I figured 4 million would be the next milestone they announced. That amounts to roughly 62500 copies sold a month. So anywhere from $1,875,000 to $3,125,000 a month in box sales. They average about 10million a month in revenue in q1/q2. So anywhere from 68.75% to 81.25% of their revenue is from cash shop. Interesting food for thought.
With the foundation of resources that they have now, I'm interested to see how they expand upon previous releases.
They have been working from the ground up for the majority of releases this year. It's going to very interesting to see where they go with this now that they have an expansive base to work with.
I'm still waiting for guild halls/housing, lfg feature, and a new WvW map. I also would have liked to have seen at least 2 more types of sPvP introduced.
However, the game is doing remarkably well despite some hiccups of the past year. Congratulations to GW2. May the next year be even better than the last.

That is only for the starred part where they claim it is the fastest selling MMORPG, in history, over a 9month opening period.
Still we don't know if the 460k CCU is from present time or the game release time.
I think you don't saw teh first day of clockwork invasions....
because it was exactly that every server was having...
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
Someone forgot about overflows... which is where the majority of those players were sent to, which are not servers themselves, and this was also most likely during early launch, when the early zones were getting hammered and the later zones were slowly filling up.
Just in case some of you missed the infograph. MMORPG.COM article.
