Interested, simple question

I'm intrigued with what I'm reading about this game.

Can two people play as a duo whenever they want?  We don't mind doing group content but what I need to know is there content that 2 people could play whenever they want all the way to max level, or does the game turn into forced grouping the farther you get in. (We don't mind doing group content but there are times when we just want to duo)

Im pretty sure you can duo all the way up.  You will miss the story content that is solo and group oriented though.

As your main story progresses, at intervals there are 4-man dungeons for which you must group and complete to advance. There aren't that many of these, but they're required and kinda annoying if you're having trouble getting a group formed because the LFG tool is slow or if you get a "lemon" of a team mate.

If you skip the main storyline, you'll miss out on alot, especially early, cheap mounts and cheap, faster airship transportation between city states.

I duo pretty much all the time with my girlfriend...but there are annoying parts of the main story quest that are solo.  So you don't get to experience some of the really cool stuff together.  There's also some solo only class quest stuff.

Aside from that, and the required dungeons that others have mentioned, you can duo to your hearts content :-)

    Thanks for the answer.

We don't mind having to do group content once in awhile to advance the storyline.

Our big concern is that at times we really only have time to jump on play for an hour. In the past we've found that in a grouping game you just can't do that as end up spending too much time forming a group.

If most of the time we can just jump on and play then this sounds like a fun game.

If your playing with your significant other fun things to just kickback include:

       fishing

      exploring/hunting logs

My girlfriend loves to have me tailor new outfits for her so she can play with the dyes...

Oh! and the character creator is good too - she can spend hours just playing with that.

(note: its really hard to make an 'ugly' toon - they all look like 20-something super models...

I gave up trying to make an old wrinkley mage :-P )

How old is your girlfriend that she still likes playing "dress-up" ?  Should I call the police?

You just have to pay attention to what is the main storyline and keep up with completing those missions, despite a lot of it is solo instances.

You really need to do the main storyline, unless you only care about endgame raids and nothing else.

You get mounts, Grand Companies, ability to sell stuff on the market, airship travel, mount upgrades...im sure im  missing stuff.

None of which is required to farm endgame dungeons though.  Also you miss out on a pretty good story too (imo)

Heh....while we were out this morning we checked every store in the area, nobody has any copies left. The online lockout has caused people to buy up all the stock in our area.

We're excited to play this one, just gonna have to have some patience I guess.
