Unacceptable : Maintenance at 8PM/5PM AT NIGHT

Are we truly to believe that the servers are really in the USA when the Maintenance is best suited for Japanense players times?
I find it unacceptable that during prime time the servers are down for Maintenance. I don't give a damn if it's a Japanense game, i paid american dollars to play this game on american severs, not japanese. For both latency etc..
Nonetheless this is the most inconvenient time for people who paid american dollars to play a game in America. You can't even mention anything negative on the official forums without the fanboy brigade denouncing it's a JAPANESE GAME.. So where on the box did it say, be aware this is a Japanese game?

yea fixing server full (1017) is more important than are playtime hours and thats what this maint is for.
they normaly do is at midnight pst but they need more time do the sever upgrades
Isn't this the same thing that our Oceanic gaming friends have had to deal with for numerous years? Having game maintenance during their prime time hours.

So you were one of the lucky few that was able to get in game, I don't think any company on the planet should "wait" for a time that is favorable for a SMALL amount of their customers.
Just so you know, server arent in the USA they said it, server are hosted in Canada! :P

Welcome to how the rest of the world feels about every American game when devs patch it during US night time. Yes you paid your all mighty American dollar for it and so did Europeans and Australians (since everyone has to convert their currency to dollar or yen when they purchase stuff from Japan).
ToS says they can bring down servers whenever they feel like - if you didn't do research and realize that dev team is in Japan and that is time table on which they will be doing things well shame on you for buying something you didn't fully understand.
Just hoping for pvp by january while i integrate my girlfriend into gaming, she's getting hooked. she can play all the pve she wants, if this means there is ever a good pvp game, i'll be able to con her into playing it..So far this weekend we played till 4am in the morning being super carebears.
You gotta do what you gotta do when you're almost 40 and a full time business to run, sure as hell can't play games without the ":wife" otherwise they become neglected
It is entirely acceptable, if it fixes the many issues the vast majority of players are seeing and lets them all finally play the game.

But seriously.. they couldn't put in afk-kicker while they were fixing duty finder and w.e else they're doing to "fix" the server issues?
Seriously, holy fucking entitled attitude. I'm American and I think I hate Americans who present themselves like this. It's an embarrassment. Now I hope they run every single patch maintenance from noon through 3am PST, just to piss off entitled 'Mericans who think the world needs to revolve around their convenience.
Remember, every patch, maintenance and update happens for the entire world simultaneously. This game released in all timezones at once. Someone somewhere around the world is going to get screwed with inconvenient hours. And they all played their own damn national currency to play the game in their own damn nation's language.
Finally, in all likelihood, this big maintenance is going to extend well beyond a 12 hour period. It may very well end up being a 24 hour maintenance. It's pointless worrying about which part of the clock it covers. The game just seriously needs to be shut down for a while and fixed. Who cares when it happens? People are already being denied service 24 hours a day.

I'm pretty sure there was a nice meme video posted right here on the FF XIV subforum earlier, let me just quote a part from Yoshi P-tler:

Edit: we have this all the time both in LotRO and in AoC since the servers were snatched from us (next to other US based games), maintenances are usually in the afternoon - evening...
It's always "prime time" for someone, somewhere.
Just get used to Tuesdays being shitty MMO days.
Always have been patch days for WoW, almost or totally unplayable on big patch days.
