The Dungeons Difficulty Progression

So I have not maxed my character out yet I am a level 38 Dragoon. I know a lot have already beat all of the current guildhest, dungeons, and trials out at the moment. But I have realized a increase in difficulty with each dungeon, guildhest, and trial. Doing the first three dungeons you feel as though the game will be a breeze. Then you get to the level 20 dungeons and the bosses and mobs become somewhat harder but still not that hard. Pretty much most stuff have been tank and spank with some technical fights throughout 15-28. But once you hit level things get interesting you are constantly on your heels looking at your skill bar, the chat window for what the boss may be doing and the floor for different aoes and not all aoes are red zoned. There becomes a lot of mechanics and technical things that need to be done in order to even beat certain bosses. I have been enjoying it too. So I wanted to know others input on the dungeons, guildhest, and trials from 15-38 and then from 41+. Even though it is quite beatable it does require a group effort from each role in order to beat the content. One person messes up or doesn't know what to do can screw the party and thats just for the 4 man content. This only makes me more excited for the 24 man content dungeons!

    Eh.

The dungeon bosses have been pretty cool - nothing that would pose a problem to a seasoned group/raid player but that's to be expected since these are just regular leveling dungeons.  The boss fights are pretty solid for that type of content.  The trash is ungodly boring, pointless, and repetitious.  TSW showed that instances can be all about boss fights with little or no trash (some of the best instances in MMORPGs, IMO) and still be interesting and compelling.  I'd be happy for other designers and companies to adopt that.  Trash without purpose is just time sink.  Boss fights in FFXIV so far have been fun - and I'd rather have an instance of 4-6 of those than 2-3 with volumes of trash.

I haven't found the instances tough at all up thru 33 as a tank, even in full pugs.  Actually, I've only encountered a few players I would consider pure fail and many that were really good, which is somewhat surprising given that leveling in the game is suitable for brain dead one-armed chimps.  Many groups are even using CC (and I mark targets, as do many pug tanks I've run with) and focused fire with the healer helping dps - good stuff.

One thing that is cool is that even early bosses have some fun mechanics to them beyond just tank and spank.  Nothing to radical, but gimmicks and little touches that make the fights more fun.  It does give me hope that later on bosses and instances could be a little bit more fun.

I also run as my THM alt class since my friends usually can't logon and I don't want to out level them.  30 min queues for DPS are pretty reasonable and those groups have been solid too.  I can't say that I like warrior tanks since they break sleep just by existing but not all groups can be sophisticated and elegant.

I was running copper last night and someone in the group was saying, man this place gets so hard, our group died 3x here last run.  I was thinking...really?  But I guess if you totally ignore what's going on and try to plow some of the bosses can kill you.  You truly do have to totally ignore the fight mechanics and be an idiot though.  If you try at al you should be able to figure things out - it's not that complicated.

Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.

Yeah things definitely get a lot tougher but that's a good thing trust me! Especially once you hit lvl 44 I found the trial and dungeon you get to be pretty tough but I have videos on both which I recommend you watch before you enter. Knowing what is going on helps so much in making the dungeon a successful run. Anyways check out the Garuda fight (lvl 44 Trial) while the servers are down and if you are finding you are getting stuck there is always info to help out there and plenty on my channel!

My main is a lvl 36 paladin right now and I have to say  that dungeons started from boring(15-20), to interesting (Haukke manor lvl 28ish), to an actual challenge (Braytax lvl 33). the last battle with the dragon is really challenging-if you are not alert, if you don't have a strategy or if you are using the wrong strategy, you will not win. Titan instance while interesting was definitely not as hard as braytax. i have tanked in more hardcore dungeon/raiding games(RIFT) and the difficulty of certain ffxiv dungeons, while not the hardest thing in the world- is decent. I can definitely see the game getting even harder in the future, which i welcome with open arms.

Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)

Im a SCH lvl 37, and I've been doing sunken temple a few times. At first I thought Id rather do Titan ten times over than do sunken again, but I stuck with it. The last boss was a PITA, but then I understood a few things that made things much easier:

    • You focus on the mechanics and not the boss. The boss will die eventually.
    • You need DPS to be on the ball straight away when the lazers come
    • The healer should not stay in the middle but to the sides. Staying in the middle makes lazers shoot at you from 360 degrees. I prefer staying nearer the entrance door because it has more wiggle room.
I love the dungeons. I ooooh'ed and aaaah'ed the first time I did Brayflox Longstop because it's so gorgeous! I am a bit wary about grinding dungeons though because the dungeons are a bit lenghty (and have tedious parts).

I am leveling a Bard (39) and I have been loving the progression in difficulty from dungeon to dungeon.  I feel like some of the most challenging to this level would be the final boss in Sunken Temple of Qarn, and the first boss of Cutter's Cry.  They're generally party intensive and everyone has to be doing the right thing.
