A few questions

First off let me say I am excited about this game. It has two of my favorite class archetypes: paladin and a monk. I have never played a Final Fantasy game before, but this game looks to hook me in a way I haven't been since BC in WoW.

My questions are simple: what is it like to tank as a Paladin? What is the usefulness of a Monk as a DPS? Where can I find good quality gameplay videos for said classes? And where are some good starter guides for people like me with almost no idea of how SE makes this game run? I start hearing about leves, jobs and grand whatchamacallits, and this old man goes all blank.  I want to hit the ground running and not spend my time trying to figure out things I could know with a bit of study time.

I have tried googling but damned if there isn't a metric ton of bunk information out there from people rushing to be first.

Now if only I could get my hands on a DDL of this game...

Thanks for reading and answering.

That's a decent website for almost anything FFXIV, tells you what classes are required to make each job, and the basics of most other stuff too.

I haven't played Paladin or Monk, but I know Paladin's are decent tanks, and will probably end up being the best single target tanks in the game, over Warrior.

Paladin requires a Gladiation at 30, and Conjurer at 15.

Monk requires a Pugilist at 30, and a Lancer at 15.

Remember you can level all classes on one character, and any classes you level below your highest level class get EXP boosts.

There aren't enough quests to level each class through that way, but Fates (dynamic events) are the fastest way to level currently anyway, and you can do Guildleves (which are like daily quests that you can re-do up to 16 times a day)

Can't help you with the classes.Leveling in this game is pretty bad.You first class does majority of the quest lines (if you choose to). When you change your class, there is no quests available anywhere. So what do you do? you start to grind leves,do the same quest over and over again. and then there is fates (which are public events).you are idling in town to wait them to spawn.Grand companys are like a faction, you grind rep with.for all this i still enjoyed my week playing.I sold my account. And now,i somewhat want to go back, and start all over in different server and class. It's weird

Also once you get up to dungeons and start to get stuck (which will eventually happen xD) or even quests there are plenty of guides out there and I have a heap on my channel. Heaps of info on the game in general too! Anyways have it saved somewhere for future reference!

I have been really savouring this game very ,very slowly because it is so seldom these days you get a game that is this amazing. The world ,the crafting, the atmosphere, the music OMG the music all hits the right note with me and it will be a very long time I think before another game can do this for me. So I am taking my time. I have been playing since early access and am only level 21. I have a lot of crafters too and I am taking my time and playing only two classes that make up my job so the dearth of quests has not affected me at all in fact I have too many quests considering there are three cities.

You can I think play three classes well without running out of quests because you can get quests in three main city areas but beyond that I think levelling other classes will be hard. I am however very pleased because right now this game is everything I want. The dungeons as a healer for me are heavenly with the right amount of challenge and in some cases a bit too hard even but in a good way. The game is very ,very good .Get it and please take your time and enjoy and please do not rush through it and lose the beauty and effort they put into making this wonderful game.

Where will you be buying it from they have as far as I know stopped sales.
