With regards to "General: In Remembrance of 9-11-01"

Hello all,

 

I know I am starting a very touchy discussion on here, and I ask all of you to be respectful of each other's opinions, as always when it comes to politics.

I was very surprised, this morning, to see the news "General: In Remembrance of 9-11-01"on the title page of MMORPG.com. From what i know, MMORPG.com is an apolitical gaming site, not a news site. I consider the 9/11 attacks on the US to be utterly political, and a very touchy subject worldwide to say the least. While I respect the pain of the families and friends of those that were murdered or lost their lives that day, this was an act of war. Sadly, act of wars happen everyday in this world, and civilians are killed everyday. Each year, I find that very disturbing that the western media ask to remember those who unjustly lost their lives on that day (for who, once again, I feel the uttermost pain), while we forget easily how many people WE kill (actively by act of wars or passively by doing of our economics) in several countries all around the world.  

 

So when I come to one of my sources for daily gaming news, which reach is worldwide, I find that very disturbing to find such a piece of "news". And once again, I respect the memory of those who died consequently to those attacks, the point is not there.

    Please enlighten me: I would love to know what there is to report about this post. I am just entitled, as you are, to express my feelings towards the fact that a gaming site has not to publish a political news. By doing so, the site becomes political and, in turn, drive comments related to that political news. 

    As I said, It is by no mean a disrepect to those that lost friends or family members during those attacks. On the contrary, as a true citizen of the world, you have to keep a critical view of EVERYTHING that is happening around you, and putting things in perspective. This is the only way you are going to honour those who died in vain, for just living as simple citizen in any given country.

    Should you wish to, I am more than willing to pursue this discussion further in PM with you Laserworlf.

While users are encouraged and permitted to use our Off-Topic forum to discuss real life and non-MMORPG gaming, threads concerning sensitive subjects such as religion, politics, or ethics may be locked or deleted if determined out of hand by the MMORPG.com moderator staff.

    As long as the MMORPG.com staff posts political news, they have to allow discussion on those news, as long as it stays moderate and respectful of each other opinions.

    This should be placed in the thread in question, as that's what comment threads in the news/features section are for. As long as things remain on topic and civil and respectful, then we have occasional topics that touch on subjects like this. But elsewhere, we don't want things to spiral.
