Really enjoyed Don't Starve for a while, but found that I was too stubborn about clearing the whole map prior to setting down a base. (For some reason, I always had trouble finding Beefalo, and setting my camp close to their herds was key for my survival.)
Congrats on getting through your first winter! I managed it once, and that actually killed the fun for me (almost felt like it was a logical "win" once winter ended.) Really unique game that deserves more notice though.

Got to agree with the Beefalo being hard to find. Finding a decent sized herd makes you want to weep (well me anyway!) That is the difference between an easy life and a very hard one. Pigs (the only other source of readily available manure) take too much management and the game is all about reducing the inefficiencies in your behaviour and hunting styles. Every second you loose before winter takes you one step closer to death, so the degree of forward planning that is required is truly awesome if you really get into it.
Yep - we survived our first winter and now it is like..meh...what next?
That said, being hit by the hounds after living off too much meat during the first winter finished me off as I ran around In the dark with no weapon <sighs>. Lesson to self build the magic machine SOONER and experiment during the summer!
I just happen to be in the middle of an epic game of Don't Starve right now, I'm on day 118 I think. Winter killed me about 5 times before I figured out how to live through it and the dogs got me more than a few times too before I figured out how to survive the more vicious attacks every 11 days.
Great game. It just keeps throwing unexpected things at you and I still have goals even this far into the game. I'm still looking for fireflies dammit!
I was playing FF ARR but Don't Starve sucked me right out of it.
