I just bought the game and currently trying to create a new character. Is it really true that it is impossible to create a character on any EU server, even after they made EU purchase possible? That seems somewhat ludicrous. Anyone know when will I be able to create a character on an EU server?
Yes I read that servers are located in the same place but it would be nice playing on a server that's actually populated during EU times.

That wouldnt really make any difference, you see EU people online at EU times and NA people online at NA times.
But on a more serious note, how on earth do they not have servers in Europe? That alone turns me away from a game, having to suffer from increased response times when the company hasnt bothered to host local servers.
With the way they do dungeon finder, it wouldnt matter very much. Each dungeon finder is shared between NA and EU servers - so they can get NA and EU people playing together presumably. So even if you had a server in EU you would still be using the DF server in Canada.
My suggestion is to keep checking regularly, as SE is always opening up and closing worlds to character creation, depending on it's ongoing evaluation of server loads. I'm on a NA-recommended world, Adamantoise, and see it opening or closing to new characters often several times in a day. In particular, you might want to check more quiet play hours.
For instance, at 9:25pm (eastern time) Sunday, Sept. 22, the following NA/EU worlds are open (though the info doesn't designate which are NA-recommended and which are EU-recommended servers, and I do note that my own server is once again closed to character creation):
Brynhildr
Cerberus
Famfrit
Lich
Mateus
Moogle
Odin
Phoenix
Ragnarok
Shiva
Zalera
try to create a char at 2-3am if you can stay awake so long.
well yeah, i would recommend every eu player who like pvp to stay away from this game. we gonna get so owned with this crappy ping -.-
Actually I created a character before I left for work in the morning. Luckily it was fast since you can save a character design.
Between this and the insanity of actually buying (and login into) the game, my enthusiasm have somewhat dwindled, hopefully I wont come to fully regret buying this game...
Part of signing up for this game is NOT being able to play it at first. It started out that way and apparently the concept still applies to new customers.
It is a horrible way to start playing an MMO, but I can tell you that there is a gem of a themepark waiting for you, when you finally get to play And it's worth the wait!
