whatever happened to people being friendly and understanding? no room anymore in games where you have to have maximum efficiency or else you're wasting time!!
When is gear score coming out? I just got a Amdapor keep PUG with a guy wearing 5 pieces of sub level 38 gear. He had a level 28 belt, 2 level 28 rings, and two level 38 pieces of jewelry. He also has level 45 armor on. This is for a level 55 dungeon!!!
This isn't elitism from my side, its them piggyback riding off of people who work hard. This happens a lot with dungeon finder. I know they said they would put gear score in but when. This is getting ridiculous.
This isn't the starter dungeon either. Even if I find a guildie or two to group with we always get one busted up idiot in here who wants to piggy back off us.
And don't say, oh why don't you get a full team then so you don't have to pug. Well you can if everyone is online, but I play late at night so its hard to get a full team on my server.
Spare a thought for that player first, did you speak to them and ask why the lack of relevant gear? was the player familar with MMO's? or was this their first, was the player a child who didn't fully understand what was expected of them when playing with others inside a dungeon?
I've allowed my own children to play MMO's, the youngest is 11 and she has played such MMO's as WoW and had pretty bad experiences from intolerant players who have not given them the guidance they had hoped for when entering new parts of the game, the only way you learn is from other players and when those players are only too quick to judge because they feel you are having a negative impact on their gaming time then what chance do new players have of improving.
Perhaps in the future when someone has a dig at your own performance that you think back to how you judged others, a good community does not just appear over night, it takes the players themselves to educate thier fellow players on what is expected of them, treat others how you would like to be treated, plain and simple.
There is so much Truth and Wisdom in this post it should be required reading for anyone playing a MMO.
Sadly, it will only be ignored or outright scoffed at by the very people it's intended to address; those who are far too wrapped up in "me me me", that they can't (or won't) recognize anything past their own nose.
I mean, you can see it right in the tone of the OP. "They're just there to piggy-back off me and others!". Right away, they spin it as "people trying to leech off them", when in reality, it could simply be someone not familiar with the content, not familiar with what's expected of them, and perhaps hoping they'd get lucky and end up in a group of people who aren't intolerant, ego-centric a-holes who feel everyone else is required to "rise to their standard".
In another post, the OP gave us a few of the comments the other player said when he was asked why his gear was so outdated. It was the response one would expect of someone who just didn't give a shit about other players and, yes, he was trying to leech.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

There's reasons for gear checks in gear dependent games. Try taking a 10k hit from a boss when you don't even have 10k hit points or if you're only given a certain amount of time to kill a mob and your dps can't do it.

The problem with a gear score system is when people say that you can't group with them because you don't have gear that you'd get from having done the dungeon in question a bunch of times before. Of course, people coming into high level dungeons with terrible gear is also a problem.
The real solution is kind of a middle ground. Have the automated dungeon finder set a minimum gear score to be able to use it at all, and make that minimum gear score a little below what a typical, reasonable player would have on the first time attempting the dungeon. That way, it doesn't disrupt players who gear appropriately for a new dungeon that they haven't done before. But don't let players queue for a dungeon with awful gear.
Or you could make a game where gear doesn't matter much.
you have givers, people who try to balance and you have takers
Givers would be fine being over powered compared to the others. They're happy as long as the mission was completed.
You sounds like you view the world in equal give/take equations.
The most successful people in the world know when to be a giver and when to switch over to being a barter give/take relationship.
Personally base on you weakness of not being able to have a full group of friends, to be successful I'd suggest you taking the giver tact until you have enough friends to become truly elite.
The OP is correct, there are too many people who just want to be carried by people that but in more time and have better gear. It's pathetic and they shouldn't be helped.
Fortunately, we have options. You can obviously stick solely to your LS or FC. If you don't have the personnel or interest from those two pools, go to Revenant's Toll and start shouting for party members. Be upfront, say you want a speed run. As people whisper you to join, use the Lodestone to check their gear. If they are rocking crap, tell them they have crap gear and they can't come. Blacklist them if you have to.

An indirect result of expecting rewards for any/every game activity.
You're slowing down my (badge/xp/gear/gold/troll dollies/gnome skins) acquisition! Damn you! I'm entitled to faster rewards! I am playing this game!
Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

I am into elitism . Why I like it is because it drives people to become better .
They need gear score and a Skill Score
Im sick of wasting 60 mins because the healer can't avoid AOE on last boss when everyone else has no issues .
Healers dies , usually its a wipe.
I accused one healer of trolling us because he died so much to easily avoidable AOE .
The user and all related content has been deleted.
Somebody, somewhere has better skills as you have, more experience as you have, is smarter than you, has more friends as you do and can stay online longer. Just pray he's not out to get you.
One guy I explained to him if he went back and talked to the NPC that he got his job quest from he would get some goodies at level 45 . Basically he was wearing crap gear when he could've been wearing legendaries .

I'd agree that this kind of scrub shouldn't be allowed to join high end content but I disagree with the "working hard" bit since this is the easiest MMORPG ever created and nothing in it takes any kind of effort. Some small bits of time, maybe, but effort? Please. So that makes it even more inexcusable when scrubs just fate grind to 50 and can't be bothered to take care of their gear.
Premium MMORPGs do not feature built-in cheating via cash for gold pay 2 win. PLAY to win or don't play.
Dungeon Finder does need a method of weeding out people not geared properly for a dungeon thats designed for end game geared people.
Fact is there are different tiers of end game content in most MMOs. So you start on the tier one and work up to tier x. Having some join a high tier group isn't just piggybacking it is ruining the team. If a boss has a heavy AE for example this sub par geared party member might just be dead wood.... And I mean DEAD in the fight. This might make the whole encounter not doable. So he hurts the team.
So yes the poster is absolutely right. This needs to be fixed. This is elitism! If you are making a group for an upper tier instance then you want an elite team.
Now the game should not make any restrictions on tier one content as of course new players are going to need to get geared up.

As someone who uses the duty finder constantly (usually as a healer), groups are okay on average to me. Maybe half are bad half aren't.
Though I can see that being frustrating if you're playing dps, where if you get a bad group it's a long wait to get another group.
