Nope I'm glad my adventures started with World of Warcraft, was such a beautiful game to me at the time. The first 5 years of that game were amazing, had some of the best guilds. I would continue to play it if the graphics weren't 10 years old, the world design used to be good, but compared to FFXIV, and GW2 it's pretty bland.

No. Those games are a shadow of their former selves. But you already knew that...

So unless yours is an alt account you really think you know better than someone that has been conversing on various threads with the accused for the past 4 and half years and knows exactly what Nariusseldon has posted? now remind me what do I need to check out? I suggest you look at sign up dates before presuming anything in future.

Oh, are we gonna have a post count or sign up date war?

Well I agree with Viper and take a gander over at my arbitrary and irrelevant numbers. You lose. Hell if I wasn't constantly banned my post count would be over 9000 just from 2012/2013 alone.

I'd like to say I learned my lesson after my second account but many bans later.... :)

Sometimes you just have to take a few bans for the cause. I think I got most of mine flaming narius.

Where did I mention post count? and maybe you should think about that "constantly banned" epitaph you seem to be proud of, there's a message in there you might be missing.

Overall... No He can not. I wish He could, I wish I could...

The games may still be there, but with the patches/new content of many the old games simply don't feel or play the same anymore. DAoC just isn't the same now with "magic" arrows for example. Many of the old MMOs have been modifed, and some of us older gamers don't agree with the modifications, we feel it has been a dumbing down experience.

Add to that how the Gamers themselves have changed... new generation that thinks and behaves differently than they older gamers did, different ethics, different quirks, different social patterns.... Younger Gamers that want a different kind of gaming experience than what we older gamers did....

Gaming is more than just the game in MMOs. It's also all about the Players. MMOs have changed quite a bit because the Players that play MMOs have changed.

I still enjoy MMOs, but I do not get the same experience from MMOs now as I did years ago because MMOs have changed. It has nothing to do with burn out, it has to do with the changes themselves.

I really wish I would have played SWG. I was actually going to, but this community hated the game so much I decided not to even download it. Even in it's NGE state - I wish I would have played it - especially since it's gone forever now. (This is why I don't let ANY online community decide what I'll play anymore - I always use my own judgement - lesson learned!)

If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

If you look at the votes, if you discount the people who just said show me the results, a solid 40-45% of people selected a Raph Koster game.

    UO and SWG.

Hey, don't be so quick to judge.

I don't think there is a bigger voice for the "cause" of "F2P" than yourself. You even have a secondary "cause"; classifying all online games as MMOs.

What's the difference between an MMO and an MMORPG? and what does that have to do with f2p?

Read through his post history already. It will all become crystal clear very quickly.

Having it fun to discuss is very different from having a "cause". It is fun to point out that i enjoy F2P, but if it is gone tomorrow, i won't shed a tear. I have other entertainment.

And classification? Not my cause .. i am just pointing out how industry classify MMO. In fact, i said it many times, it is just a label and matter very little to me, and if anyone can change how industry use the label, i will follow suit.

Again I been reading "his" posts for over four years why do I need to read his post history? all I see is Nariusseldon challenging common perception about what an MMO really means. Even the admin of MMORPG.com has been trying to widen the perception of what constitutes an MMO but the vets want to live in the narrow past and suffocate the development of the genre.

Duh, there's always other forms of entertainment and water is wet.

When one spends a considerable amount of their free time repeatedly saying the same thing over and over and over again, I'd say that would qualify them as someone with a "cause".

Narius, much of the industry is currently classifying online games as MMOs in an effort to cash in on the wake of their booty. You can find other examples of this everywhere in marketing; look at automobiles for instance. There are many cars that are described as being sport cars such as the Subaru BRZ/Toyota Scion FRS, or say a Ford Mustang with a V6. They are not sport cars but are marketed under this classification to make money.

As an individual who spends so much time "discussing" these types of games, how do you not see that?

Nope, because I played every one of them except SWG and Anarchy Online, both of which I didn't like.

I mostly missed out on later MMO and apparently I didn't miss much.

That is just silly. You can't possibly know others' motivation better than them.

May be i am just bored. May be i enjoyed expressing myself. May be it is a slow day at work.

Oh, I have no problem with people who have different opinions. I welcome them. I simply see constant and insanely repetitive internet forum posts (as in your case) that are constructed solely for the purpose to get attention in a negative way to be distasteful at best and useless at worst.

    You completely misunderstand me.

Distaste is a matter of opinion, and useless .... well ... forums are just entertainment. I am not aiming to be "useful". I doubt many are, but of course i speak only for myself.

Sometimes  I'm kind of bummed I never got to try DAOC or Asheron's Call in their heydays.

Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
