Yes, pretty much. There is a big mountain to climb before you stumble onto the beef and even then the game carries its frustrations. It does however, have a very distinct authentic charm after you start getting into it.
It doesn't help that the community as a whole is rather unhelpful and often deliberately mystifies things.
For example, in Age of Wulin (European version), we had the unlocking of the second inner a few weeks back. That was paired with an event where you could get a set of gear and large amounts of pills that increased your crafting XP by 100% or more (these could be sold).
The description for the event was unclear as always and people who had done the same event in Age of Wushu were deliberately vague or silent about it while they farmed the rewards themselves and sold them for a hefty profit.
Same thing still goes for random events: a huge thick layer of untransparent mist is kept in check by players who found out these things in Wushu or another version of the game so that they can exploit things themselves.
Age of Wushu / Wulin is obviously a very competitive game, sometimes that is a good thing, but it also has some really nasty repercussions.
Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!
