Sci-Fi book with EVE resemblance?

I really enjoy the lore of the EVE universe and I'm looking forward to the TV-series that was announced earlier this year. Since that will probably take a while I was wondering if there are any other good sci-fi books and perhaps even audio books that gives the EVE vibe so to say. Any ideas?

Have you read the actual EVE books? Templar One? The Burning Life? The other one, the title of which I cannot immediately recall?
Anyway for similar feels, you could try Revelation Space, Schizmatrix, The Lost Fleet Series.

The Commonwealth Saga by Peter F. Hamilton. The first book is Pandora's Star. It's not exactly EVE, but it's good space opera, a little slow in a few places but nothing too bad.
The Lost Fleet Series by Jack Campbell reminded me of EvE's big fleet battles a bit.
Iain Banks' Culture series.
Saga of the Seven Suns series by Kevin J. Anderson. Lots of different races and big space battles. Not exactly the best sci-fi. or brilliant writing, but a decent series if you want to turn your brain off and go.
Just a few off the top of my head.

Best Sci-Fi space series I have read is also by Peter F. Hamilton - The Night's Dawn Trilogy - actually 6 books starts with Reality Dysfunction. So epic i can't even tell you!!! Super realistic space stuff, very little "magical technology" but tons of awesome. Definitely not for kids.
Another one that I really like is the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. 12 or 13 books plus spin offs. First book is actually available free http://www.baenebooks.com/p-304-on-basilisk-station.aspx it is more naval combat than privateer type stuff but still amazing space combat.
You can download it to Kindle too. After reading the Honor Harrington series, i ended up reading a bunch of other books of his. Great author.
Totally great books though.
But they're nothing like eve.

I remember when I started reading the first EvE book (Emyprean) I hated it at first. Then as I played more of the game, I went back and started reading it again from page 1 and finished it in a weekend.
I am going to check out this Lost Fleet Series. Now Im just hoping there are some Firefly-esque Scifi Novels out there
The Expanse series by James SA Corey.
First book is Leviathan Wakes.

After seeing this book recommended here, i looked up some reviews and ended up buying it.
I'm only about 50 pages in, but I gotta say I'm really enjoying it thus far.
I don't recommend Peter F. Hamilton - his books are very long-winded and full of waffle. But worst of all are the endings - they end as if he doesn't know how to finish the story.
He does villains well, but most of books dwell on characters you could not care less about.
Of the Eve Online books, The Empyrean Age is good, The Burning Life is average, and Templar One is awful - don't touch it!
I am not aware of any other books that capture the essence of Eve Online because this game is unique in the sense that it has many more than two sides. Most sci fi books are unlike Eve because they are 'good vs evil' or 'humans vs aliens'.
The best sci fi books I have read are Rendezvous With Rama, Ender's Game, The Player of Games, Starship Troopers, The Prefect, and maybe Old Man's War.
Of the Warhammer 40k books, I would only bother to read the Ciaphas Cain books because they are funny and well written.
Of the Star Wars books, I would only bother to read Death Troopers - Star Wars and zombies go surprisingly well together.
I disagree. One or two of the Culture books are good - The Player of Games being particularly superb. However, the rest are quite forgettable, and The Hydrogen Sonata was so dreadful that I couldn't finish it.
Haven't read Hydrogen Sonata so I'll give it a miss.
Player of Games was superb, likewise Surface Detail, Excession, and a few others which for some reason aren't on my book shelf. Strangely I dislike Iain Banks (his non- sci-fi stuff).
My favourite space opera though is the Foundation trilogy.
