Open World RPG nowadays lets you pick and choose your response so that you can make the game a bit more personalized.
But what if the game itself lets you pick and choose your adventure, won't that really make the game your own personalized journey.
What if lets say you got with your friends and go on a quest, you encountered a fork in the road ( instanced ) The game makes a leader and they would be the ones that picks the Left -Middle- Right road, the leader didn't listen to the group and decided to take the Middle , they go in, encountered Big bad wolf , a tough battle and they won, a couple of broken weapons but they gotten some Wolf pelts , they continue down the road, encountered another fork in the road, again the leader doesn't listen to the group and goes to the Middle again, this time they encountered elementals that generated some fallen rocks for the group to avoid ( Red lights on the ground to avoid ) then encountered some elementals that is weak ( fight or not fight ) The group decided to fight the Weak elementals, killed them all then all of a sudden an Mini boss Elemental comes out ( its the mom ) tough fight ahead....etc
Now lets say you had a tracker in your group, they would be prompted with extra notes, or thief in your group that would say that treasure percentage higher on one side...etc each class has special talents.
Another group takes the middle road as well, but they have different results, they might have encountered some lost adventurer and needs to take him back to a village.
Now, this kind of game is not meant for the rush to end crowd, they are for the journey crowd. Because this is the kind of game that might never be the same for each player.
The games that I am using as the basis of my idea is ( FTL ( choices) SWTOR ( group mechanic) Pen and Paper , choose your adventure books )
With the advancements of technology, I think this is now a possibility.
Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it.

the problem with this is it's "developer driven" story
some players are getting weary of "story driven" mmos (at least I am)
mmos do a lite version of this with having to choose factions
example: EQ1 Velious, 3 factions, none of them get along, you choose one, get hated by the other 2 (dwarf, giant, dragon)
EQ2 fan sites
It is not a problem, just a preference.
It works well in SP games, and should work well in instanced solo gameplay in a MMORPG.
