Massivley reporting layoffs at CCP on the WoD team.

"CCP today made strategic adjustments to the staffing on the team working on the World of Darknessproject in Atlanta that resulted in the elimination of approximately 15 positions at the company. The change was due to our evaluation of the game's design and ongoing development needs. While this was a difficult decision, CCP remains committed to the franchise and our promise to make a compelling, rich, and deep World of Darkness experience."
And right before Christmas as well. Harsh. Layoffs at this stage does not fill me with warm comfortable feelings. This is the only upcoming mmorpg I am generally excited for. Hope it doesn't end up being Vapourware

Like you, this is the only MMO I'm currently hyped for.
On a positive note, the layoffs did not include any developers, just designers and producers. This could mean that they are re-aligning their resources with the project (so may re-allocate designers when they are needed later in the project). The said designers may also have been contractors.
It's sad that they were layed off this close to christmas though. Redundancies for developers is usually a positive thing (I recently was layed off when a UK dev team for a well known social network was disbanded) as you get benefits and can jump straight into another position, but I'm not sure what the demand for designers is...

What, they needed to free up cash right this second? They couldn't wait until after the holidays? Now 15 people are going to have their holiday marred by the stress & anxiety that can come with needing to find a new job quickly. Way to go, CCP!
Disgusting. Someone (or several someones) over there in Iceland HQ needs a lump of coal & a visit from three spirits before this year's season is over.
On second thought, better send them over to Bobby Kotick and the entire board of EA as well for good measure.
