Fall of the Dominion - Face of Mankind Milestone (Do I or Don't I?)

I've been reading up on Face of Mankind because I missed the boat on it originally when it was out and buzzing. I see all of t he efforts to revitalize the game from the community itself and I can't help but wonder how far on the boat I should get?
It looks better than other Sandbox MMORPG's out there. Player freedom at a complete maximum. I'm just looking for some general thoughts maybe from some that might have opinions?
I know that the likelihood of great concept games is going to be coming from indie efforts and seeing something like Star Citizen and their rediculous kickstarter makes me wonder if perhaps my money will be better spent in their direction. Help?
