How do I access the Chest in...

Hi
In the fields of the dead there is a quest called "To the victor belong the Spoils" or something close to that.
You defeat the guards around the chest and then you are supposed to steal what's in it.
I've killed the guards a half a dozen times but I don't get how you access the chest.
I'm not the only one, I've seen other players trying too.
I can select it, it appears as a selected object with no health bar, but it doesn't open a loot window.
Anyone know what the secret to this is.
I'm pretty sure I completed this a long time ago, but I can't remember how.

If you shoot a mime, do you have to use a silencer?

Being a Necromancer I didn't think of that, my pets won't attack it, and none of my spells work, but I can whack it with my staff.

That`s one out of two Cimmerian quests which are bugged atm (as far as I know).
(The other one being the sword by the Mammoth in Eg. Mountains).
The chest (and the sword) does not reset, quests can`t be done, and it`s been this way since the merge a few months back.

I finally figured that out, I couldn't whack it with my staff either so I gave up and removed the quest from my journal.

Have you tried /petition to a GM? They can advance bugged quests if you get them in the right mood
I remember a few years ago there was a bugged quest right at the start in Conarch village, and it was a running joke that it's an introduction for newbies about the GM petitioning
And when the f2p launched, with many new players (who kept getting the advice to simply petition it, it was even on the forum as well), FC finally fixed it - probably it put too much load on the GM's
