Thinking of trying DDO seriously. Best value way to do so?

Should I just sub? What expansions and things will I still have to buy if I sub? Is it cheaper just to buy the unlocks with TP which are on sale now? I would like most of the classes and areas unlocked.

Thanks

Also will they ever make it so LOTRO TPs can be used in DDO?

Dont think you have to buy any expantions if you subscribe, you will get accsess to all content plus you get 500 ingame cash to shop for every month.

Even with a subscription, you need to buy the two expansions, Menace of the Underdark and The Shadowfell Conspiracy, to access their content and certain features like Epic Destinies. Unlocking everything using TP will be more expensive. The artificer and the favored soul classes and the drow race can be unlocked via playing the game and gaining favor. Subscribing to the game grants you access to almost every race and class (exceptions stated above), most of the game's heroic (levels 1-20) content, more character slots, and 500 TP per month.

If you want the full experience, you will need to subscribe and buy both expansions.

I recommend subbing - i"ve done both and subbing was far cheaper for seeing content (for me)

Thanks for the info all.Torn between subbing to this or EVE or resubbing to FF once that sub runs out in a few days.....hmmmm....

OK one more question. I notice they have a deal of 11,000 TP for $60 when you buy both xpacks  and then another offer that increases it to 15,700 when you buy 11,000 TP. Do these to offers stack?

If so would that amount of TP be sort of like a lifetime sub where I could just unlock most things or is it still better to just sub?

i tried to do that w DDO (buy many adv packs and classes) and still have many things locked

its less expensive to sub and buy the expansion packs

unless you know that you will be playing DDO longer than 6 months

Decided to buy it. $59.99 is more attractive to me than having to sub for many months to play through all the content. Was able to get all adventure packs plus an extra class with the TP I got  and it's my understanding that you can earn TPs by playing like you can in LOTRO (if only you could transfer TP between the games I'd be set) but I should still be able to fill in gaps without paying more I hope.

BTW...for anyone else interested in this the bonus promotions don't stack unfortunately. You get 11000 TP not 15250.

Looking forward to finally giving this game a proper look since I love D&D 3.5 ed.

( if you are melee, will need holy or "pure good" weapons to be effective among the undead in there)
