Non-game IP to MMO has yet to deliver rave reviews from fans because the fans all have such different development expectations. Original IPs are a better route for all involved because expectations can be better managed. Established IPs are largely banking on name / brand recognition to draw people in and sell boxes. Original IPs have to bring more than that to the table to get similar results sales-wise. Original IPs have to work harder to get your attention. Just a much lessened chance of disappointment IMO.
I'm sorry, but it would be the perfect IP for a MMORPG. It would like combining Sci-Fi and Fantasy into one game, e.g., swords, shields, guns, missiles, ships, mounts, etc.
There was actually a funny thread that was made about it. I'll link the images:
This gets my vote. I'm not a fan of pure sci-fi MMO's mostly because they tend to lack weapon diversity other than guns. I'm not a fan of guns in MMO's. This mixes fantasy and sci-fi very well for me.
I also wondered why no one has made a Wild West MMO. Been playing some Red Dead Redemption recently and it made me think there hasn't really been one. Maybe too niche? I don't know...
first of all these games should be done well. with a good thoughtful concept any ip can shine, but the past showed us, that companies don't think in long terms, only how to make money from a known ip in a short amount of time. game of thrones or shadowrun, which are currently in development, are far far away from being what they should be. i would playe shadowrun on my personal list, but as said before its under development and so isn't allowed to be on it.

and the expansion with better gear and updated graphics.
A David Lynch (sci-fi) movie made in the 80's and was based on a book written much earlier. Dune was/is a great movie and had many books written after it. I see Dune as a great choice for an MMO.
I would also like to see Dragonlance, Terminator, and Blade Runner
I would like to see a proper Gothic horror rpg set in the 1900s with Frankenstein like golems, vampires, we're creatures, mummies, ghosts, zombies but not only as monster's. Players can be Svegany like gypsies with psychic powers, hunters that use all sorts of weapons, scientists that use wild science or witches and warlocks.

Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!
