I was just wondering how many people aspire to become the Emperor in PvP.. i for one dont, it just doesnt fit my playstyle to go totally hardcore PvP..
You must realise when answering this question that it will probably require a fulltime hardcore dedication to the PvP game...

Hell yes. I am definitely going to go for it. You only have to put in the kind of time required for one Campaign push. I plan to take a little time off and dig in once I A) have my character outfitted and loaded out with a primo skillset, and have a solid group to run with as a small force, since fighting against greater odds and pulling it off fairly consistently is likely to yield very rapid leaderboard ascension.

Who wants to be emperor? I think the best course of action is to bust your butt trying your best for your team and who knows?
Think that's why it's designed the way it is. A just in case try to be really awesome in PVP because you never know.

First thing that came to mind when I heard this was....
Charlie, you're are the banana king! No, I'm not! Look Charlie your floating, YOU Really ARE The Banana King! I AM the Banana King!!!!
Aw crap they stole my stuff!
In other words, I think anyone who tries to be emperor and joins a guild who's main goal is to be emperor is setting themselves up for cut throat competition and backstabbing. You will find people who need prizes like this to feel good are often times people who will use you to get what they want. For example, some X class guild leader organizing a bunch of their guildmates to protect them in a way they can EASY SHOT being emperor. Kind of like how Temp services use your Labor to get rich.
I seen this happen in every single game they give a golden egg. One great example is FFXI and their dynamis system when it first came out. People cut throated each other over the currency till the guilds would just fall apart. Most emperors wont have gotten there by themselves, most will probably have used their guildies to get there with careful strategy and planning.
Good luck being a Banana King, I'll be in the Adventure Zones which foster a better relationship with those around me, and since the loot system is set up so no one has to fight over loot, I know I wont have to deal with greedy people who want Golden Eggs.
i will try but i imagine it will not be easy, especially at first.
No intention to become it. it would require alot of work, both as a player grinding, as a clan leader to get you there as a diplomat trying to work youre way true faction politics and move yourself into the position were you can claim it.
no rather have fun questing, exploring, roleplaying and now and then try to chop off the head of who ever manages to become the almightly ruler for a week :P
Well I'll definitely want to be as competitive as possible but that's it. Emperor? Sorry, I've got life, job, friends, you know, that kind of stuff;-) To be completely honest if this system is going to be like that only top place matters then I don't really see many ppl eventually competing for Emperor. If it also had some lower ranks (i.e. generals) then it possibly would be more interesting.
Other than that it's nice to have an indication of how far you've progressed but then none of it really matters if pvp itself is bad - I'd prefer to see this first before jumping to who I want to be and what I want to achieve.
I'm with you on this one.
Personally, I'll pass on becoming the Emperor. It's a lot of work, for extra responsibility I do not want while playing a video game. Heck, it's the reason I usually back down from being a guild lead or an officer. I just wanna kick back and have fun w/ the game.
That said, I can see myself playing PvP a LOT. And I can also see myself leading raiding forces across the map. I'll just let someone else wear the heavy hat, and worry about defending that city.
If your going to pvp in the game might as well aspire to be emperor at least once:

Extra skill line can be op wonder what the balance will be the first race to emperor should be interesting to say the least
Well there is a different between wanting to be and having it as a goal. Offcourse I want to expirience this part of the game, but it's not a goal and will not invest extra time in it just to become emperor in a video game.
Being emperor of negeria is already hard enough. Please send me you monies and I make you rich!
While I think it is a cool unique reward I would never hit it myself.
What is nice is there is a added reason to take and defend your keeps around Cyrodill, to make your emperor. The big guilds and their leaders will want this reward and will hopefully strategize more than some other realm vs realm games. Mindless zerging isnt going to cut it.
I have not really followed the game, I actually have never even logged in for a beta yet. I will likely play. If this were 10 years ago I would say I would want to be an emperor, even knowing it is an unrealistic goal as I am not an eccentric millionaire or somebody willing to lose everything I worked for to play a game and nothing else.
But since I would say I would like to put 2-6 hours a week average into a game, maybe more if I am real bored or it is my 2 day work week, but I have many other priorities that would lead me to turn down a video game- no questions asked.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
