    As others have said this doesn't mean 60 gigs of actual game they are just covering themselves in cases of digital download then install and for patching later in their life cycle(like when patching from a fresh install from a physical disk).

    However with a new generation of consoles with greater graphical capabilities I wouldn't be suprised to see reasonably soon maybe more actual games the size of 60gigs or greater.

    Pretty much this. It's just an indication that somewhere in the future, the game will be that big.

    If you guys download a 5 GB patch  , its does not mean its will be +5gb in your HDD or ssd most of the time when you download a patch its only replacing the current files you have by the same one with the fix, its like copy paste but with the new code,

    but yes of course if its new patch and they added new stuff now its added GB to ur drive,

    EQ2 =  32.4 GBs

    WoW = 24.6 GBs

    ESO =  30 GBs

    Whats the point of this thread again? Oh ya, hate...

    No, its not. Stop with this disinformation already. People like you should be banned from internet

    At least they are partly correct. The game will be around the 30-40gb range, games always list far more as a requirement for the install process.

    I'm kinda wondering this myself :-). Read through all these pages. I'm not convinced that the beta client and the size of the launch client are the same, but everyone posting about their theories and technical assumptions are just as valid as anyone else's point. I'll be curious to see what the final size truly is :-).

    Lol I'm actually a fan of the game. This is the first time I've written an OP and it was associated with hate. I could name about 10 vultures here who are probably happy about that lol. I legitimately felt it was a positive development, but there are some valid posts in this thread that pulled back my expectations a bit so I guess we shall see :-).

    I have the Beta installed on an 240G SSD and it only takes 29G, but that may change as of release.

    Every MMO that has launched in the last 5 years recommends a clean install after beta.... And everyone of them is just fine if you ignore that and just patch.... My connection is 60 Mbits so I'll wipe and reinstall but you probably don't need to if you don't want.

    I probably will as well sigh! Lol. My internet is about 34mbps with no throttling or size limitations so it won't take me too long and I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry :-). Then again download speeds for these kind of games are normally around 2.5mb, but not the end of the world :-)

    not sure why there is 7 pages of discussion about it already, were none of you in beta? I thought that by now everyone was aware of this fact

    Not quite. The patcher IS broken. I think its the same as the new one that SWTOR uses.

    The client is currently 29GB. I just checked.

    When patching, it makes a copy of your existing game files, then patches the original copy. If all goes well, the copy is deleted. If the patch fails, then the "rollback" is actually done by deleting the failed patched files and putting the original copy back. Its a rubbish solution.......but thats why it needs 60GB because during patching you have 2 copies of the game at some point....

    ROFL. Man, therefore you have Install DvD's or not? That's a rather stupid excuse mate. image

    But why?

    WoW's MoP on my computer shows 39.7GB, and 11GB is from the screenshot folder...and WoW has heck of a lot more content.

    Just wanted to clear this up as I have seen it mentioned elsewhere. At the minute the beta client is around 29GB and not 60GB unless they plan to double the size of the install prior to release.

    And now I have read the comment a couple above mine and see someone else cleared it up... I confirm what has been said ;)

    The client is around 30Gb and the 60Gb is the recommended free space required to run the game.

    All games/softwrae have a similar warning.

    Q: The ESO launcher keeps telling me I'm out of space, but I have over 30Gb free!

    You need at least 60Gb free on the drive you're downloading ESO on.

    Once the client has been downloaded and installed, the final size will be around 25Gb, but you will need to have 60Gb free during download.
