Game will fail because of art style represents a smaller percentage of players than you might think. Stylized graphics do a better job of capturing a worlds lore and is more appealing to the senses. When ms tarting WoW I thought the same thing but quickly found myself more immersed than expected. EQNext will also have a good look if landmark is any indication.

If it had game of thrones medieval look then this - with the 40 man raids it will have could have been the best MMO out since wow.
As it is, regardless of the gameplay, it's just hot a world of fantasy I want to play in. Cartoon childrens tv sci fi / futurama is not something I would play in.
Developers should realise that the world they create also pulls a certain crowd and moves a certain crowd away. EQnext will realise his too.
Oh well
Your oppinion I am looking forward to Wildstar .. and stop already with wow clone comments, same old same old .. turd
I agree with you Dogblaster. Everything to these people are wow clones....uggghhh. Wildstar looks like a blast to me and that is the game I am looking forward to this year. Lets give it a go!
It may not be a WoW clone, but it has, without a doubt, a 'wowesque' look to it and frankly, I'm tired of that style of graphic. I may have been disappointed with ESO, but the graphics were a refreshing change from the cartoon bonanza that is today's MMO market.

More appealing to you maybe. Stylized graphics = more shades of gritty brown than you can shake imagine.
People complain a lot about Wildstar's aesthetics but honestly I have no problem with them especially when they go into such detail with their animations. Wildstar looks like the most lively mmo I've seen with characters reacting to even hot and cold climates. Now I just wish I could test the game out
Now this is just my opinion... But to me cartoony graphics age better. I find that graphics like ESO or TSW don't age well. To me they get dated fast. Again, this is just my opinion, your opinion can contradict mine. As I always say, to each their own.
They lost me over their poor handling of beta invites which started to annoy me already some month ago.
If they don't want to run through their signups in chronological order but rather give keys to bandwagoneers who applied 3 days ago, they have to live with pissing off a hgue chunk of longtime fans. (Not that NCSOft ever had a problem with pissing off people)
Their page needs a button to recall the beta-singup...i would hammer it on the monitor with my face.
EQN, here i come...
So you are a sad panda over net getting into a stress test which main goal is to crash the servers and probably will be a horable experience for everyone participating?
No key for me also. If someone is willing to share their account, message me. I'll give my phone number and picture of my id or whatever you need arg, really just want to try this out for a couple hours.
I'm really in an MMO funk... there is no MMO that I feel like playing, yet my favorite gaming moments are with MMOs so that's why I keep trying to find one. Hoping for Wildstar because ESO wont do it for me, even though it seems good.
I hated World Of Warcraft's art style at first. However I was at least used to it to some extent, based on being a fan of the early games.
What made me look past the art direction, was the lore, and the world itself. Quickly made me become immersed.
I have gotten Wildstar invites for awhile now, and I just can't get past the graphics, it's pretty much, "Pixar the MMO, with guest appearances from Futurama"... though I'd probably try that game out if it was real. lol
There just isn't the lore, that had me hooked from the beginning like in WoW, to really want to invest in Wildstar.
It also probably doesn't help, I have a deep hatred from NCsoft based on their business practices and the game itself, under the toon town graphics, is really very dull, especially the questing. Again, there isn't the established lore, to work as a carrot on a stick. Divide that by the fact they pushed PVP back because they can't really figure it out, it spells trouble.
I'll be playing ESO (put 100 beta hours in love it), WoD, and even though it isn't my thing, EQN.
I can barely play two MMOs at the same time, let alone three, which I will do and have a main. So even if I had interest in Wildstar, there is really no room for it, since two out of those three already have subs.(Maybe EQN too not sure).
Combine that with the sheer amount of games coming out this year, especially RPGs, I honestly don't want to give up time on those to play, Wildstar.
However there is always a MMO, or game people hype up, that I am convinced I will at least like, that I end up hating, GW2, ME3.
Also, there is always one game per year, I just am not interested in, or didn't like the beta. That I end up playing and checking out due to boredom or a sale, that I just end up loving and think it's a gem.
However , very confident Wildstar isn't it. I am pretty sure I'm not the only gamer who feels this way about not having the game time to invest in the game. Not to mention people who know nothing about the game but are curious will take one look at the graphics, think it's like WoW and if they want to play WoW, they will in the new expansion.
I'd give me account away to someone if I got a beta invite this time, too bad I didn't.

Because it has "cartoony" graphics it's instantly a "wow clone"? You're like the people who hear a band that has a vocalist with a gravely voice and you say "OMG they sound exactly like Motorhead!!"
Why are you reading, and then commenting on, articles about a game you're disinterested in? Only to tell us what you will NOT be playing? I just don't get this mentality at all.
It's surprising that this Everquest clone has made it this far Mabye it's because you have to be in some elite group to play it . So everyone wants what they don't have?
This is my personal opinion and the art choice for the game gives me shivers that it's just that unmentioned game mark 2.0.

5 years only?? Lol, NEWBIE!
How about try someone who is in their 40s (like myself for example) and has been around since the beginning! TES 1 and 2: Arena and Daggerfall and all the others since?!
I've got my invite already, but I am moving in 2 weeks and will wait to install it then.

You must be confused. Wildstar is not an Elder Scrolls MMORPG.
Now who looks like the Newbie?
Just to question the philosophy. Army of Socrates.
I hate people who are angry just because they haven't got an invite yet. Coming from a developers perspective, Why wouldn't you use random name generators? Why would they waste their time on something that order members off of certain criteria? Fan boys are gonna buy the game, tell their friends and promote the game no matter what. It's "noobs" who give a game its longevity. Now they will tell their friends and so on. Imagine a game full of die hard fans only....It would never last. The gaming community is full of whiny self-entitled players these days, and alpha tests are demanded, not asked for.....Why should an artist have to bend to anyone's will? Or have we forgotten that is what they are?

1 thing I -do- like (and pretty much it) about TESO is it's graphics, agree I don't like the cartoony-style either, it wears out quickly.
no invite
ncsoft hates me.
agree also.

Probably worth at least installing the game and logging in on a spare laptop or something. Otherwise, why ruin the experience of full, true release!
Hope they announce the release date soon, I'd like to have a May-June release for Wildstar.
