I just pre-ordered ESO, but given the gap in release, i may very well be done with it by time Wildstar comes out.  So it not really a "one or the other" choice for me.

I already know I will be living in Wildstar, I would have probably bought and tried ESO, but I feel like I am wasting my time when I know I will be buying and playing Wildstar like the WoW addict I used to be.

I'll probably play them both when they go F2P

I tried ESO and I'm pretty confident I will skip it until it goes B2P sometime in the next 2 years.

I'll try Wildstar this weekend and see what I think.

Wildstar is and ok game, But ESO beats it big time in my opinion. We all know what they say about opinion's. :-D

    Wildstar, obviously.

I will not buy either one. I am buying into EQN Landmark and EQN itself when available instead.

Wildstar is just random quest generator with some sandbox elements. ESO is the world I would want to live in, and fight to protect.

Excited for ESO, but if it turns out to have a short lifespan for me I'll just pick up Warlords of Draenor.

None ... there are too many SP games, and f2p MMOs to play. There is no desire, for me, to pay for any MMOs. Chances are, they will go f2p in a year or two anyway, and i can check them out then.

Probably both to be honest. There are things I like about both and things I don't like, so I'll play both for a couple months or so and see which one holds my interest.

both...will be a long gap between release.
  • achesomaachesoma Member RarePosts: 1,768
I like both.  Though I'll most likely get much more longevity from Wildstar endgame.  Overall, WS suits me better.  ESO will be the type of game where I'll keep dropping by from time to time when I want a more relaxed, slower-paced type of game.

ESO on the other hand, and by comparison, I enjoy playing a lot more. How long I will enjoy it for, who knows (which you can say about all modern MMOs these days), but I like the world, the lore, the questing and exploration and it's a beautiful game graphically.

For me the real competition is not between ESO and Wildstar, but between ESO and The Repopulation (when that gets to beta).

None of the above for me. I didn't like wildstar and have zero faith in ESO not going f2p. If I'm wrong about eso and it ends up being a good game, I can always buy it after.

Wildstar, seems to be taking more risks than TESO.

Playing: FFXIV, DnL, and World of Warships
    Waiting on: Ashes of Creation

Neither. Both look like nothing new, just the same rehashed MMOs that we already have.

    BOTH ofc!

    Should be an option aswell

Games Played: Anarchy Online,Star Wars Galaxies,WOW,Eve,Darkfall,Vanguard, Fallen Earth,SWTOR,GW2,Tera,ESO,Wildstar, Black Desert, Archeage & Albion Online
Now playing: Conan Exiles & Rocket League
Games looking forward to: Diablo 4! & Star Citizen?

  • Maybe both. Maybe neither. It depends a little. ESO is looking iffy at the moment, and I haven't actually played Wildstar.

You know these shit games just keep coming and coming, and every new one that gets announced you think they would learn from past mistakes of their peers and rivals and improve the concept at the very least. They however go on to be sub par or make new mistakes in their efforts to be unique that weren't in place previously for a reason and usually a good one at that.

Then you have to ask how can anyone screw up a carbon copy of wow, and you'll be amazed that Blizzard's world class engine is not easily duplicated and what you get is the dollar store knock off with a picture of wow on the packaging.

    So missing from the poll.

4> Go back to Wow and wait for XPAC

5> Quit MMORPGs all together..(until the next hype train game anyways)

I will play ESO simply to kill time until WildStar.

As I have tried both multiple times now. There is no question I have much more fun in WildStar.

    Both!

Should of have included that option....so no voting. :/

    Both!

Wildstar is more complete feature-wise, as a MMO it has a bigger bang for the buck. It appears to have that hook that a MMO needs, fun and meaningful high end content.

TESO looks and plays ( in my opinion ) great. The story seemed very engaging, it has great features but let's face it... What makes TESO great its the Cyrodill PVP, that's where the replayability is at. The rest of the content is fine but once you get through it that's pretty much it, you're left with PVP and crafting hunting to get the best gear.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I believe TESO uses the same gear for PVP and PVE and that is a huge plus. Wildstar differentiates PVP and PVE gear meaning you ll have to get both which sucks since I look to do both aspects of the game.

If I have to bet which will be the most successful in the long term though, definitely Wildstar. Even though I prefer the non-cartoonish graphics and lore of TESO, Wildstar just seems a much more robust MMO with plenty to do.

What they should do is end this silly 13 euros monthly fee, the same magic number for all MMO's greedy bastards. Why 13€? Why not 7? That way I would pay for both. With 13€ I ll have to eventually choose 1 to stick with.

A proper move would be for TESO to drop their monthly fee price because they are launching on consoles that require monthly fee to be online aswell. That way TESO, even though it will survive on fanboys and its pvp only mostly, will probably remain competitive and avoid F2P.

ESO, for sure and I'll also be playing WoD.

I'm pretty convinced Wildstar will fail and ESO will do much better than expected.

That being said? A chance both games could fail pretty badly. Especially if WoD is any good.

Right now it's ESO vs Wildstar fanboys. No real talk about both games could go down the TORlet.

Love ESO, big fan of the beta. I have also been in the Wildstar beta, and to be completely honest, litecoin mining is more fun.

Going to play eso, then probably the wow expansion later this year, then eq next hopefully late this year or early next year if they get it out by then. Eso and eq next are what im most excited about though. Landmark looks fun but not the style of game i ususally play so ill probably try it out at some point but dont see myself spending much time with it.
