People keep calling this "updated version" a lie, but there are closed testers who can confirm it.
People keep saying those of us who like it wear rose colored goggles and see nothing wrong, but there are those of us out there that can move beyond minor issues or fixes in progress and see the game for a form of entertainment in its complete form.
I enjoy the game, I will play it when it goes live.
Are there issues, of course, are there things I don't like, sure, a glaring issue is the chat window, functions and commands. I'm not sure why they had to change that from it's typical format, maybe it's the mega server tech, maybe something else. I'll learn it, and move on.
Are the quests and UI catches a problem. Yes, the PTR patch notes show those have been addressed, CBT players have confirmed it. Keep in mind, many of the issues are player driven, and while I find Zenimax should remedy the issue correctly, if players would stand back, breathe, and step off the spawn points instead of crowding the Harpy spawn for example, the mob will actually spawn and life will go on.
I experienced positive changes since the first beta weekend I participated in and I've experienced issues that need to be addressed in each beta. I submit tickets in hopes that others are doing the same so they can see its a major issue.
Running to the first board and screaming about the sky falling and rose colored goggles will fix it all, that's for sure.
I had 11 quests in my log when l logged out, 2 of them were blocked content, as in main quest and one more that went outside the beta areas.
The other 9 were all bugged to some degree, mostly non spawning mobs ( And yes, I waited and I revisited these locations many times ), and a couple were I needed to interact with stuff that did not work.
As in the last town up north ( Dominion ), one needs to shut of two runes to bring down a barrier, one of them I could not interact with, regardless, it was sort of a progression quest as I assume you need to free that town, and it was the last quest that I had that I had not given up on.
Sunday evening though so I was kind of done with this weekend anyhow, but still.
Despite this, and the atrocious UI, I had a LOT of fun this weekend, I probably clocked 30+ hours.
And i would pre-order right now, but I kind of need to know these problems do not follow into release, and rumors that this is fixed in some mystical patch, ( hands up anyone who has heard this one before? ), just is not enough for me.
They seem to plan at least one more weekend though so I guess I will have my answers then.

The beta this weekend is not the current build of the game. A lot of what you've experienced has been fixed or adjusted. Beta, by it's nature, is for ironing out some of the last wrinkles and stress testing. Please keep that in mind. As a beta participant, did you send in the bugs you encountered and feedback that you have so that the developers can help to improve the game?
Funcom with Age of Conan and EAware with Star Wars: The Old Republic used that little white lie...right up to launch day when they couldn't say it any more. Zenimax with TESO is no different.
Sorry, SWTOR didn't ever make claims about their builds.
Anyway, the current build that's in the PTS has been leaked and confirmed by multiple non-ESO dev/employee beta testers. It's not news that a PTS would have a more up-to-date build of the game. What game doesn't use their PTS this way? Again, SWTOR didn't' even have their PTS up and running at launch. FUD is not our friend.
Sorry, you just showed you were NEVER in the closed or open beta for SWtOR. Either that, or you have a really bad memory. I'm betting on the former. FUD seems to be your best friend.
But then this is a different company....
i have played the last 3 betas and never got a client update, indicating that the current build is over 3 months old..
In these 3 months i have seeen a multitude of patchnotes for their internal build, with lots and lots of new features....
The big difference between the internal build and the external build is probably the fact that the external build is optimized for performnance, and the internal build is not optimised for performance, and since they where testing performance mostly this weekends stresstest, its only logical to do this with an optimnized build.
--> this is smart from a testing perspective, but not so smart from a sales promotion perspective..
Either that, or the newer builds are less stable, and they dont dare to show us the latest builds, sad thing is Bethesda and its complicated huge games never where renown for their bugfree product or even their aftersales support...
--> Maybe the naysayers are right, and the game might be as unfinished as AoC beyound the first zone, we cant know for sure, however internal testers indicate differently
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Originally posted by pappacube The ESO beta weekends have had a large number of broken quests, UI lockups, game freezing for like 30 seconds at a time periodically.
The newer client is being used on the limited invitation pts site, which unfortunately at this time is still governed by some non-disclosure agreements. This beta used an old client so people where still seeing issues from some time ago.
It wasn't the best decision in terms of quest frustration, and for some not the most favorable advert for the game.
An open beta with the latest client would hopefully resolve these issues - fingers crossed.

We know. They know too.
I was playing in the starter zones and had 2 quests that did not work.
more problems than last beta weekend.
going to buy hopefully its cause there was mush more players but ill be very disappointed if I cant finish a quest when the game launches.
