It was a cute little game but that's about it. I liked to load it up from time to time and run about on the ships and do some simple ship battles to pass the time. They also had a few decent events the few times I played. Its a shame any game has to shut down but this one's demise was no surprise. Like the last poster it was probably more of a surprise for many to find out the game existed in the first place. I would really dig if they came out with another MMO with the POTC theme that had a little more polish and care given. Its a great IP for an MMO imo just wasn't done well in this case. Maybe Disney can license it out to a developer that will actually put a lot more effort and thought into the project and not just attempt a money grab of a hot new IP (well..it was hot and new when this game came out )
Seems Disney (like many) has a hard-on for mobile device gaming. I understand they are part of the future of online gaming and MMOs but it seems like many developers think they are the be all end all of online gaming. Call me old fashion ..but I'll never give up PC ( and to an extent console) gaming and I don't think most true gamers would. Now incorporate them together is one thing but I get the feeling its mobile platforms at the exclusion of others. Guess I'm just paranoid.
I'm only surprised to learn that the game had lasted this long.
I'd left the day after I'd subscribed (to spend talent points beyond a certain level, you had to subscribe) and then learned that the abilities were not yet in game.
It was advertised on the back of a cereal box! I thought it was just a cheap temporary promotion for the movie, long gone...
Oh well, I played the game many years ago, for an hour, then uninstalled. Even back then there were other much better freemium options. If someone didn't get to try this game out, they aren't really missing anything, IMO. Generic & Laggy.
RIP PotC-online! ... May God have mercy on your soul! ... Now walk the plank! .. ARghhhhh!

I didn't even know this game was still running.

Recognize the voice? Yep sounds like Penny Arcade's Extra Credits.
Pirates of the Burning Sea is still around, and is a much better game.
