same here.
In fact, im not even rushing to buying before launch. And wont rush to buy until they give the same faction unlock to post launch owners.
Well in a year you most likely wont need to buy it either as it will already be free2play.
HAHAHAHA..it will most likely never be free to play for several reasons..one reason being its rated "M". cant have a rated "M" game F2P so the little kiddies can have access to it. i wont even get into ALL the other reasons this game will never be free to play..i would be writing a novel if i did.
I plan on collecting them while I level. I wont be leaving a leveling zone until I have all the shards available to me in that zone. This way I will know which zones I have completed and which zones I need to visit once im 50 for the rest of the shards.
im like you, i wont be leaving any zone either till #1 i have all the shards in a zone, and #2 till i help close all 3 dark anchors in every zone, you get achievements for doing so. Ill be taking my time with this game. crafting, exploring every nook and cranny of every zone, and on and on and on. just wish the 30th would hurry up and get here
I wont be rushing to get skyshards, but will get them all as I do a zone. I need a lot of skill points to do what I would like to do on one char. So Ill be doing dungeons and quest for skill points also.

I would really like to hear about those other "valid" reasons you are talking about.
Just look a bit back when games like SWTOR that most likely cost more then double compared to TESO became free2play don't think it will be any different here.

ESO will not be free to play - It's a much bigger, more involved game than SWTOR, not to mention 100 times better! I'm sure a lot of people who are complaining and saying they wont pay to play WILL end up buying and paying to play

As I think more about it, I'll be taking my time completing quests, crafting, etc. But am looking forward to the adventure zones!
I will probably mount up and do all of cyrodil at level 10 as well.

Listen fellow posters, listen to the steady thrum of their wings, the clicking of their mandibles, the rising hum of the plague of locusts that is forming in clouds to feed on Tamerial. Not one blade of content grass will be left behind in their wake!
Originally posted by Lord.Bachus Originally posted by DMKanoYou can have a solid build with 80ish skill points, no need to rush.1-50 can be done in less than 100 hours, so take your time, it goes fast anyway.
But that is withouth any crafting, socialising, skyshard hunting, treasure maps, finishing story content... I think 200 to 300 will be the normal for most player..
and then there is veteran ranks 1 to 5 and 6 to 10 ... Which are gonna take atleaset as long each... Add some PvP to all of that, and you have atleast 1000 hours of go e play ahead .. With the content thats in at release and a single character... Its gonna take me a while ..
No way 1-50 in 100 hours. You may not be able to acquire what you need to keep leveling

I'm assuming it will matter. Maybe not that you get them all but I would imagine they're going to make it so you have to get a majority for one reason or another.

Well you are probably right but my max build count is 174 and really that is far more than is actually needed to max you build but allows multiple builds to use. That is total skill points so I only need about a 1/3 of the skyshards.
I'm interested to know how everyone thinks you are going to approach Skyshards. How important will they be to your strategy?
ESO is not a game for "rushing". The quests are the interesting part. This game is not for powergamer at all, its a slower paced game.
But, you will see people in the weekend beta who will rush to lvl 10. For many this is not the first beta and they know the area, they want to see the mass pvp and the beta is not that long this time.

I think this is pretty much what most people are planning to do... stay in zone and explore. People who rush will miss a lot of good stuff we don't even know about yet!
It seems to me that TESO more than any other mmorpg offers the most to those who enjoy the whole journey, not just rushing towards some elusive end-game that people always want to skip to. All the side quests, shards, lootable objects, lore and skill books, random events and rare monters behind every corner. On top of which you can always dive into player driven war to break any monotony you may get on the way.
Tho I'm afraid a huge part of gamers doesn't know any other way but rush. It's like food addiction. Stuff yourself untill you feel really bad and can't consume anymore, and than repeat the next day even tho you know it will hurt in the end.
All my MMO's are about the journey.. but since I tend to be ADD when it comes to games, many of my heroes often go the way of some alzheimer victim just walking about in the wilderness left to die. :-P
It's about the journey moreso on this one. I WANT it to be good. I fear it'll douse my hopes like KOTOR. So I stand skeptically by. I don't want to play more beta and purposely played a faction I wasn't going to play at launch. Here's hoping.

QFT. I don't plan on rushing through anything with this game. It's best when played slowly and listen to what people have to say imho
I'm big on completion of everything. I got over 20,000 achievement points in WoW lol
Rushing? No.
Doing every Map as i get there? Yes.
I will probably mount up and do all of cyrodil at level 10 as well.
