Trion Worlds has announced a new digital games platform that will offer users all Trion games as well as "hand picked" games from developers around the world. Called "Glyph", the new software is a lightweight platform and will make it easier for players to find high quality games to try out.
Trion will be looking for games that players will want to spend time with and developers that have both passion and promise, inviting them to benefit from the millions of dollars the company invests in marketing and promotion every year, and to make their titles more discoverable to the gamers that make up the 10+ million and growing registered Trion Worlds customers.
Glyph was born of a desire of Trion’s teams to leverage its technology to help more developers connect with audiences they need to in order to thrive, and is intended to be player- and developer-friendly. All titles sold through Glyph will be delivered free from the Digital Rights Management (DRM) utilities that cause so many problems for gamers, while single player games will not require an always-on connection in order to be played.
Check out the Glyph site for more information.

This guy speaks the truth. It's a bit ridiculous how many "Platforms" you end up having in your system tray..
TSW - AoC - Aion - WOW - EVE - Fallen Earth - Co - Rift - || XNA C# Java Development
Currently Playing: ESO and FFXIV
Have played: You name it
If you mention rose tinted glasses, you better be referring to Mitch Hedberg.
Completely agree, the last thing we need is another game platform. I won' t put another one on my PC.
I will just delete all Trion games if they force me to use it. Someone over at Trion had a huge brainfart.
I will keep this short and to the point:
NOTY

LOL!! Origin is such garbage, can't say I'd expect anything less out of EA. I can't remember how many saved games I've lost in Sim City, but it was well beyond 50. There is only one Steam, and Steam OS will rock!!!
Apparently it's also going to be very light and clean in terms of system hogging. Which the others tend not to be. We'll see, we'll see. We have an interview with Scott coming soon.
Oh, and to the ArcheAge comment? We have a nice long chat with Scott about that game, 1.0 and what's going on coming up hopefully next week. I'm just waiting on all parties to sign off and send it back.
Try to be excellent to everyone you meet. You never know what someone else has seen or endured.

YAY!!!! another steam spinoff is just what i was waiting for....................................................
.......................................................................................................not
Yeah this is also what Trion has been hinting as one of the things that NEEDS to be completed prior to launch.
Don't even get me started on GDC! Trion needs to start communicating with the potential player base instead of only the media. Yet another convention we have to wait for to have "news".
Communicating with the fan base is completely different than the media and GDC symbolizes the problem imho!
Your right though, this is a glimmer of hope on the path to ummmm.......something "soon".
Excellent news! Thanks for mentioning this, will definately look forward to that.
I hope one of the questions is "Why does Trion refuse to communicate with the potential player base?".
This is amusing. If you have no interest in a new platform, perhaps you should simply consider...not...using...it...?
Just a thought!
As long as they don't make it mandatory I don't care. ARC will keep me away from PWI games, and they are going to force it in the future.
I will not have a bunch of clients installed on my system for every company. Steam serves the entire industry, for all these different companies to make their own doesn't even make sense especially for PWI that uses F2P games, steam doesn't take money from them, in fact they save PWI money because the actual game clients are being downloaded from steam, saving PWI bandwidth costs.
Not only that, but its giving hackers yet another way to get your account info and ARC has had massive security flaws.
True....but Steam is godlike! Perfect platform that is still going strong! The best part is, that Valve don't take the opportunity to get greedy like all other big companies tend to get, but instead the opposit! Recently they just released ToGL as open source, which also is a proof to why Steam is so awesome and why we don't want another platform!
That would be great if it was an option. PWI forces you to use ARC when running their games and EA forces you to use Origin when running BF3 and 4 from what I remember. Thanks for the thought though.
I sure hope Trion doesn't make this crap mandatory for running their games.
I believe you are required to download ARC in order to get the PW games but can uninstall it once you have the other games' downloaders.
It doesn't matter how light-weight it is. The whole concept is getting out of hand. Fragmentation is only good for grenades. I'm sure Scott will have all kinds of excuses for wanting to create a new platform to host games Trion is or will be publishing, but it doesn't change the fact that it's yet another "solution" that doesn't solve an existing problem.
You make me like charity
You can say what you want about EA and ORigin but their customer support is top notch!
Well I thought it was quite apparent that I was talking about this new venture by Trion worlds. How do you know that they will be requiring you to use their platform to be able to access their games?
I wouldn't know about the other platforms as I do not use them however I have Neverwinter installed and can play on that fine.
Because they want people to use it. Therefore, they would most likely follow the same trend of requiring it to run their games. Otherwise it's pointless to develop it in the first place.
Perfectly possible but there's no way of knowing yet.
I disagree that it's pointless to develope otherwise though. There are a number of other perks that come with the territory in this type of business venture.
After my experience with both STEAM and Origin I have this to say about ALL platforms....
DELETE them all. STEAM, Origin, this new one, all of them. They're nothing but Gaming's equivalent of Used Car Salesman.
I have no gaming platforms on my Computers and I never will again.
Definitely agree, just put EVERYTHING on Steam.
Don't want to use it don't buy it/play it.
Consumers need to understand they have all the power. They choose ti give it up.
