another boring, buggy, unpolished LIVING STORY MODEL FROM GW2?
spending people working on those 4-6 week update and then you will have 1 expansion in....3 years.
its ok at first, but in long run its damage the content that player get.this is reason many people left gw2 for good.
Heck of a lot better than cookie cutter developers that stamp out a game world and pack up the team and leave. I would much rather have a dedicated staff listening and delivering new content every month or so then none at all.
If I'm going to invest my money into the game, they can invest time into my money.
dont get what you are trying to say.
my point is that if they spread out their team for the 4-6 weeks update, player will have less content in a long run and GW2 is an example.
in GW2, they had every 2-4 week update, however, by spreading out their developing team for those update + short time, lead to buggy, unpolished content, zerk fest update. it also lead to delay on expansion or no expansion at all as GW2 annouced.
think about no new lands, skill, class for already close to 2 years. i dont know if ESO team can do better but GW2 team already did fail for me.
Originally posted by Sephiroso When will you people learn. It's going to be meaningless and fall through just like GW2's living quest bullshit did.
I found GW2 had great content updates, if not the best. Many people still play it, I however prefer some kind of vertical progression instead of pure horizontal progression. But you can't deny no other games rolled out content like GW2 does.
Even if they can do it, i don't see it being more than just a couple of new quests and the standart balance patches, bug fixes, etc. Then a few months down the line there'll be, maybe, new dungeons and rvr map locations. Maybe they're preparing a Darkness Fall in the Imperial City.
I don't think these updates will matter much if the base game can't keep players engaged anyway. GW2 releases more updates than anyone else and still the general reaction i see across the net is "meh" (they really should do an expansion).
EDIT: But i have to agree with those that say this has to happen, otherwise i don't even know why i'd pay a sub. If a B2P game can release content regularly (content that ranges from average to good and is temporary, but still content), i P2P games has no excuse in my book. We'll see.

Since when where updates not buggy? The fact that the game got an update every 2 weeks, just make it more obvious becasue there is NOT GAMING UPDATING ON THIS PLANET that is perfect. Also, it is not unploished, zerk fests, it is story based content that the likes of you can apparently not enjoy because you are too much focused on following the masses than actually try experience the actual content.
You won't see anything better in the gaming industry anytime soon with this attitude, good luck finiding your paradise.

Well ESO doesn't have to focus development time to creating dresses and pets to put in the cash shop or lock boxes so that's something.
GW2 and ESO have completely different motivations for how they would like players to interact with the world. GW2 is driven by getting players into the cash shop or GEM exchange and spending money where ESO needs players to not hit that cancel button on the subscription website. This drives the content they create in different directions and so I'm not sure drawing to many conclusions about ESO from GW2's living story is a good idea at this point.
Of course we heard the exact same thing from past MMO's most notably SWTOR and we all know how that turned out. Zenimax is not Bioware and I'm hopefully they are committed to actually following up on their promises and not put a unspoken "as long as we have 5 million plus subs" behind it because really a sub game without consistent new content gets really hard to justify keeping the sub open every month.
My last post on this thread since apparently the majority of the people posting on ESO forums are pure kids. As I have seen alot of hate towards Gw2 content I just wanna ask, how many of you actually play Gw2?
90% of the negative people are those who don't even own the game but complain based on other haters who may not even own the game. The whole negative reactions towards Gw2's living story started simply, the player-base thought it was meant to be as an exchange for an expansion, which was stated false afterwards.
Good luck with ESO and other MMOs. Sadly, I don't see any of you enjoying any game soon as your main concern is not what you enjoy, how to hate in the best way possible.
Personally I truly hope ZOS can keep up with the development schedule. 4-6 week content patches is what made Asheron's Call so amazing.
I have far less optimism that this thread can be saved from the whiners however. Apparently there isn't enough things to whine about in the present so they have to whine about things in the future too that hasn't even happened yet.

who said anything about update must be perfect.? i just said its BUGGY.
also "the like of me" dont like running a zerg fest every 2 week that why i stop playing that game. but it sound "the like of you" still " too much focused on following the masses" and running that zerk fest.
look at GW1, 1 year 1 expansion. each expansion is 1 new continent, 2 new class, tons of new skills and whole new story. it even called STAND ALONE expansion which consider as a single game.
and now look back at GW2. what you have? almost 2 year, no new skill, no land, and they said they dont plan on expansion yet ????
Pete Hines said they want to go for "significant" updates, not "huge". There's a difference.
Can they keep it up ? I've always preferred quality over quantity, so I'm happy waiting longer for fewer things than being showered with shallow junk every 4 weeks because they "have to deliver at all costs".
To an extent I agree but a small part of me hated the fact that WoW's content cycle was anywhere from 3-6 months. The majority of their patches were always bug and balance changes. And for the most part was one if the reasons I ended up quitting after 6 years of playing.
But then again my all time favorite MMO Asheron's Call stuck with a monthly content update with 2 major content patches a year. This they did for 14+ straight years. So I'm hoping ESO's Content patched are also augmented by major content patches.

the one who ASS UME here is you " 90% of the negative people are those who don't even own the game"
Might want to go research my history again most of my post are not on eso.. Nice try though and I'm not harassing him I'm explaining why he's being called out. If he posted some links or facts to back up his accusations he would come across more legit even with all negative post .
I am just pointing out the double standards here. You mentioned his new account earlier and you surely have problem with him posting a lot on ESO forums. When you yourself have a lot of posts in here and your account is also fairly new. Neither side has posted any links or facts to backup any claims.
One side has 'promises' of Devs to fall back upon and the other side has past experiances with devs and their big promises.
As far as for 'trying'. I do try so thanks for noticing that.
I have not made any accusations so no need to post links or facts. I asked him to post some links and facts to back up what he's saying . I don't understand ( well I do they have none ) the idea of I'm going to make some absurd accusation but will not provide links or facts you need to prove my absurd accusations false. Feel free to continue to skim my history you will find lots of links in my post.
There you go, took me seconds to find, in fact I'll make it a little easier for you, direct feedback from a closed beta tester:
"Their statements internally to a guild leader were that they aren't targeting an MMO or ES audience but rather intend to make their own game vision. (Beats me what the hell they think they're targeting then with an MMORPG with an Elder Scrolls skin)."
No proof of this.
"They also have in the latest patch (0.181) made anything but linear questing through the main zone questlines completely unviable for gaining XP or leveling. Grinding mobs with a partner has been nerfed into the ground with a poor XP split; PVP earnings of XP are orders of magnitude (literally) slower than grinding even; and they made exploration XP give virtually nothing too. So there goes any of the non-linearity the game had, too."
Last beta was .17 so again no proof of this.
"Crafting has been nerfed significantly from being some of the most powerful gear in the game to some of the weakest top-level items you can equip. They have taken out any value to it except for making potions, when previously it was a strong game system.
That's not what they say at all.
Veteran Rank XP has also been nerfed so that you must do every single quest in the zones in order to even come close (and that isn't enough, believe it or not, to level you fully!) to getting to VR10. Same as normal XP in terms of now having no options. I guess they think people will grind out the rest? You currently will get to around VR6 and if lucky, 7, with the current build, and VR's 8, 9, and 10 take upwards of 9 million XP total to reach (for all 3 combined), while killing a monster gives around 100-200xp as does a player.
No proof of this
My pre-order has been cancelled, and will stay that way. The level of arrogance the developers there are displaying is off the charts, and they have no direction in mind for the game very obviously since they're reacting to blog posts in a knee-jerk manner, ignoring their core tester group and locking threads, barely responding in general over the last couple of months. Even if they fixed things, who's to say it won't just change and be gutted out like so many other things in a short time? Not worth my time, money, or effort anymore. The major issues now far outnumber and overshadow the major aspect that was good, Cyrodiil, and flaw it in some cases such as removing the addons that provided basic combat information for PVP. It's a completely reckless leadership that simply does not deserve my cash, and really anyone else's if you ask me. Go donate to Camelot Unchained if you want RvR. This game won't have it."
No proof of this
Brilliant. A poster call out those who believe devs then post a rant from someone who's not happy and we are supposed to take his word?
Umm brilliant ? You posted a quote from a review a someone who potentially could have been a closed beta testers and is no longer going to play... Yeah no agenda here. Any of these comments been back up by ESO ?
How did I know that when faced with supporting evidence and direct feedback from a closed beta tester you would just claim it was all lies?
Didnt I say to you in my first response, if you want to call him a liar then more power to you.
What I see there is an empassioned appraisal of the current state of the game from someone who clearly cares, has clearly invested a lot of time and energy as a closed beta tester and who now feels he has no choice but to cancel his pre order.
And perhaps the reason he has experience of .18 and not .17 is because he is a closed beta tester?

That statement is too outdated, an expansion is in the work according to latest interviews. Also, it is normal to be buggy, updates need time to get polished and since it is such a short period and so many updates the quality seem to go downhill.
As stated though, innovation requires experimenting and Anet stated that the Living story is gonna be introduced different starting season 2.
