*disclaimer* My English sucks. I apologize for a long post, with poor grammars and spelling. I know, your vision, will be blurred and worse before you are done.
But damn it, read it anyway, and when you are done, "shut up, and play my game"*
I want to be part of this game.
My experience with this game is limited. I only played in the last two Beta, but I'm excited. I have been playing games for quite a few decades, and it have been a long time since I was excited about a game. Elder Scrolls Online is it.
And than I read different threads in here, and become worried. A lot of negative ones out there.
Problem with MMOs are that, for it to be a success and stay on a server, a lot of people have to play it, so yes, I just want to say "shut up, everyone. This is my game. Love it, play it, and stay here" .
And this made me understand why people are so vocal, when it comes to MMOs. They want people to play their game. So anything we see in this thread (incl. my post) is going to be shaded. But let me try to convince you to play it, disregarding the bugs and negativity out there.
1) And with the years, I realized something. I want to be part of something from Launch to end. How often have we not sit here, and wish, that we were one of the original. Call it "showing off our E-peen (<-- is that even right?)". But it is important, right? How many of us, would love to have been in EVE from the start, if we had known how successful it would have stayed. It just seem to late now.
I pre-order the collector edition of Star Wars, and cancelled it shortly before launch, because of bad reviews and tons of bugs. I have now played it, and is loving it (of course not as much as I will love Elder Scrolls Online ). Seem rather polished now.
That brings us to the best reason for staying with this game. Potential. Yes, it is bad business to invest in something that might succeed, but so is playing lottery. Let's be honest, this game have the potential to be really, really one of the great ones. I want to be an ORIGINAL.
2) Don't be an idiot. There is so many bugs in this game, Apollo.
True, and yes, I'm aware, that using the say "but it is still Beta" is too late. That ship have sailed, and this game will launch with bugs. Buying a product, that is not working perfect is normally really stupid. Just ask me. Just bought a car, and it broke down 3 months later, and I had to spent another $2800 to just be able to drive it. I'm pissed. But that's because I know I could have bought a car, where this wouldn't have happened.
My expectation is less with MMOs. I have not yet, played any MMO that does not have bugs, especially a launch.
I know, let's teach those devs, that we do not stand for that...but can we pick your game instead? Just kidding of course (or am I?).
MMOs are monsters to create. Elder Scrolls game are even worse. Skyrim still have tons of bugs. But it is still a blast to play.
I have encountered bugs that was frustrating in ESO, but I have yet to encounter anything that was completely game breaking. Most of them went away when I either loaded, started a conversation or in worse case, just relogged.
I believe that these bugs will be fixed over time, and other bugs will enter this game, when they expand on it. It's how this hobby is. When I was boxing, I hated getting hit, but I really love hitting (yeah, that just wrong, but let me be). When I play MMO, I hate the bugs, but I really love playing in a gaming world with tons of other people. So, I will take the bugs, since I still believe, that it is not possible to make such big games for so many players, without bugs.
And see no. 1 for why, I'm not making my stand against Zenimax.
3) So why is this my game?
Its frigging beautiful. Immersive. The landscape is epic, the character design is amazing (just don't run with that character. They really look stupid when they run. Guess we don't have any athlete in Zenimax), and the NPCs feels alive. When you enter a city, you can hear side conversations from NPCs. I love it, man. And they are walking around. Not just standing there, like props.
And the progression is a dream. I really feel, I can do what I want, without getting overwhelmed. For the first time in a long time, I find myself, stop up and just look at the world. For the first time, in a long time, I seem to have choices in what I want to do. I can have this planned out character, knowing step by step, which abilities I want, but than it happened, that I find this great weapon, and I want to advance with that weapon instead. And I can. In this game, I don't know where I end up...and that is role-playing, instead of the book keeping I have experience in the last many MMOs I have played.
One thing about me is that I want to accomplish everything in a game. Every quest, every badge, everything. Maybe it is just me, that have changed, or maybe this game, changed it for me...I don't care in this game. I just want to play and enjoy it. Take what comes, and moving up. I don't have to do every single quests, because it seem impossible. So I just enjoy, look at the different quest, and decide what I want to do, and what I want to skip. I don't have to rush from quest to quest, even afraid to out level them. This game changed that for me. It became my online Skyrim.
I actually relax when I'm playing this game. It does not seem like a choir. I log in, experience and enjoy, log out, and felt like I was part of a story.
4) PVP. I hate PVP servers, as I hate getting knocked down by a random player, when I'm doing a quest (or just hunting butterflies). I dislike Arenas, as it seem less immersive.
But I love the adrenalin rush of fighting other players.
And that my friend, is accomplished in this game. It's like two games in one, both nicely done. I can play with my girlfriend and buddies in one location, and than I can get my kick in another. Both fitting well in this world, and not destroying my immersiveness (is that even a word?) in this game.
5) Sub vs. FTP. Who cares? The company is going to get their money one way or another. You are going to pay, one way or another. Maybe you care one way or another. I really don't. I know, if I want to play a game, I'm going to pay for it.
In FTP, you can of course just buy what you really want. But for me, who want to do it all, often become more than, what I would have paid for a subscription.
I can see this game, later turning in to FTP. I really don't care. I have put $15 aside a month for it, as I know, no matter what they choose, it's going to cost me at least that.
In the end, I look at this post. Ignoring all misspellings and grammars, and I know, this post is not going to change anything. But I still posting it, because, I want you to play my game. So shut up, and get a beta key. Get in, enjoy, and if you are lucky, find me on the battlefield, and show me, what you really mean about my post.

We all have different opinions and ESO isn't on the quality level that will amaze people and bring back memories from WoW and GW2. While, I am more inot Eve, I play MMOs because they are fun, immersive and evolutionary. If this can't be offered than I usually play it for the story, enjoying the lore-experience that is pormising here.
While I am kinda disappointed that ESO didn't live up to former titles like WoW and GW2 from my point of view, I am a still an Elder scroll fan that will happily enjoy the universe of the franchise. Pre-ordered and we may see eachother
totally Agreeing to the OP ...
Elite: Dangerous - Space Exploration & Trading.
I don't know how GW2 and Rift plays. Yes, how can I call myself an experience MMO player, when I haven't tried them, but I haven't.
But I dare to say, without facts, only experience, that you can still find bugs in those two games, even after they have been out for some time.
Yes, Zenimax is probably not going to be able to fix these bugs before launch, even when we gotta admit, they have been working hard, and changed quite a few things, in the last month.
But what is the alternative? Wait another 3-6 month? We could, but I can help but think that there will just be other bugs to fix.
And I really want to start playing this game "for real".
World of Darkness comes to mind. I have been waiting for this game for soooo long. I'm just like "come on. I want to play what you got." If it ever comes out, I bet you, it will still have some bugs.
I know we shouldn't put up with this, and buy a half-finished product. But read my first post. I am of the opinion, as pussy (really like those Khajits) as it sound, that these games, can not be without bugs. Just imagine all the scripts that have to run in the background for each player and action. When they fix one thing, the script most likely will affect something else, and certainly not always in a positive way.
Of course, we should ask for the devs to keep fixing them. Yes, even when it is a never-ending job. This is why we pay them, right? If they stop caring, yes, than we will have words.
Take Vanguard. Amazing concept. Great idea, and I would have followed them forever, except, they stopped caring (probably because of financial reasons, but than again, the financial trouble, was probably because they didn't fix them).
Hopefully, Zenimax keep going. Keep fixing. If they are just taking my money now, and run away, oh yeah, We are over. No more Elder Scrolls on my hard drive. But I really have faith in them.
Haven't had one yet I couldn't complete by relogging a few times. While I agree it's something that needs to be fixed, I have completed every quest I've taken over the last 3 betas. not once have I had to abandon one.

Eso is a better game than GW2
