Having attained a Beta key from MMORPG and running the program at start, the first issue I found was its access. It seems the program has no certificate and has no known Windows identified creator. Alot of games are like this, but for a MMORPG I was surprised. I loaded the content anyway and for some reason the program requires complete computer access, meaning access to microphone, webcam and computer files. This was very surpising, why would a program that runs via Java with virtually no Beta download require complete access? Again no worries, I loaded it into a sandbox program to try out the game.
First Impressions as stated before the graphics are very simple, which I find acceptable considering the type of game. It starts out in a badly designed starter port where you create your characters identity. After doing so you are shipped off to the new world. Once in town you speak to a local guide and set up a beginner claim and are transported to your small area.
This begins the basic ladder of learning. The help feature seems obscure and doesnt explain much other than the abilities at hand, but I enjoy finding things out on my own, so I jumped in. To reach a new ability, you must study the items in your surroundings, which is tedious somewhat, especially considering the poor nature in which moving and targetting is layed out. I found the neanderthal movement and poor map views create a pointless hustle to and from.
Exploring and studying, and crafting things from scratch reminds me of Civilization somewhat, just more poorly conceived. This game is has alot of ideas and exciting possibilities, and I was excited to explore and uncover new skills, but the lack of proper explanation and poor movement and control I hope is changed or fixed by official launch. After collecting and crafting a few items I found the game to just leave me lacking ambitious drive.
I implore you try it out, very few games come along that break a mold, I feel this may be one of them, although at beta deployment Im yet unsatisfied. These are just first impressions, given to explain to anyone that may be interested in trying it out.
Thanks to the developers for offering up something different.

When i first started to try it , i felt the same . But after a week , i couldn't stand it .
For me , the game is a total let-down . Although the best thing about the game is it is almost 100% sandbox , you can build a lot of things , explore the land , the more you play , the more you get ...etc .. the perma death system totally ruins it .
It's not just because of the perma-death system , but the lack of justice . The stronger just get stronger and punish the weak , it is ridiculous for a sandbox game that it's better not to trust anyone , because most of them will try to grief you . In fact , the game support griefing and other crimes and the developers just love it .
The game has been beta for months but there's only a few players playing , only around 250 - 350 players at a time . Most of them are old players raiding around to kill other people .
If you are a player who love exploring the game and do stuff together with other people , the game may not for you .
It's sad to say , i like everything except griefing support and perma-death system . The current player base maybe enough for the developers ( only 2 people ) but not enough for me to keep playing the game .
That's just my 2cent
The game actually has potential , but they just fucked it up .
What they do is create a system that only satisfy a small group of player , that sucks.

I'm on the same opinion also. I've just tried it out again, but its absolutely pointless for a "normal" player. I've no problem with the perma-death system or open looting itself, but combined this with a very much grinding leveling system where you just need spend lots of boring, monotone work to get your character high and then grief without any consequence fucks it up.
This way there is a dozen of aggro harcore kiddie who lives out their perverted needs to grief other players. Ive made some suggestions on the official forums, but they spammed it over, not even giving the possibility for the devs to read it.
I've just said that somehow it should be made available, that regardless of you char level you always hava a certain chance to do a knock out if you are defending (not moving for 5 secs). They started moaning instantly that this would ruin ther precious fun of grinding for weeks just to be able to play god and grief normal players.
The strange thing, that even so these few fanboys say that this game was ment for them and everyone else just gtfo, looking at the extensive crafting building part of the game as an analoge it looks like this to me:
A few 5-6 year old kids are given a chess set, and then they try to set up the chess table with the figures and they just would like to start playing, when a dumb hyperactive kid rushes there, turns over the board with the figures and starts to berzerk and hit and beat the other kids with the chess board and the figures. And while doing that he is roaring like this: "DONT YOU SEE, THIS THING WAS MEANT TO BE USED LIKE THIS!!"
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
Well i was interested in Salem, even with the permadeath system.
But this reads like muslims, no thanks.
