Hunter Deck !!

WizardryWizardry Member LegendaryPosts: 19,332

I edited this deck to be a little better as certain meta game changes as you move along the ratings.BTW this deck will win,i can figure most losses to either me playing badly or the other guy getting lucky or just a bad match-up versus the other deck.

A KEY thing i like to add,Jenkins has not won me as many games as the Misdirection card has, that card can be insane if used just at the right time.Best case is when you want him to trade with his own two minions or with nothing on board his minion will attack his own player.

The difference from smart players and noobs is the smart players won't put added stuff on board to allow my traps to kill more than needed.

2x Hunter's Mark                                         2x Bluegill Warrior

1x Flare                                                        1x Starving Buzzard

2x Tracking                                                  1x Eaglehorn Bow

2x Freezing Trap                                          2x Animal Companion

2x Leaper Gnome

2x Timberwolf                                            2x Kill Command

2x Explosive Trap                                       2x Arcane Golem

2x Misdirection                                            2x Wolfrider

2x Unleash the Hounds                             1x Leroy Jenkins

Hunter's mark versus Owl : Owl might let you get through that TAUNT once but your not killing that minion so he will come back to bite you. With the Mark reducing a baddie to 1 makes it a VERY easy kill and then he is gone for good :).

Flare is VERY situational i only really see need versus Mages and other Hunters but since i see a lot of both i need to keep 1 in there and still gives me a card draw when i don't need it.You could take it out if wanted but i have had that cheap 1 card draw save me several times.

IMO i would consider dropping a Flare for an Owl or Spellbreaker. The only reason is stop a buffed creature like Lightspawn or Berserker ect ect or to simply stop a  Acolyte of pain or Northshire Cleric from drawing cards.I have lost because i allowed opponent to draw too many cards.

    Thanks for posting!

I have a lot to learn, so I'm not ready for this just yet, but I've bookmarked it for future reference. I'm still working up all of my basic decks via practice and familiarizing myself with each class' basic deck. Then I will go to the expert decks. I mix it up with playing against other noobs like me now and again. The game is good fun. It can also be quite frustrating at times if you don't get any cards you need when you need them. But I guess that's still me needing to learn how to make a better deck.

    Cheers.

The reason yo usually don't get good cards is because your deck probably has no synergy.

I read a LOT and try to listen to all the successful players and what they have to say,i am a sponge for absorbing information lmao.

What i learned from listening was that your deck needs to have a purpose. You can NEVER build a deck that beats all,you have to suck it up sometimes, the game is really balanced.

The three rules of purpose are

1 A FAST SPEED deck, put all your cards in that favor fast.

2 A mid game tempo/control or mid speed deck game

3 a Late game control deck

IMo the LATE game control  only has one really strong deck and that si the Giants deck because they actually try to lose health so they can play their giants then Sunfury or Argus them into taunts, then finish off with Jaraxus and possibly adding a few 3/3 healer cards to keep the giants healed. The Giant deck is imo very strong but most don't have the cards to make the various versions.

I run my hunter deck a little different.  Mana addict is ridiculously strong if left on the board.  I also run it in a secret paladin deck and it is even better there, since those secrets protect it better.

    1x hunter mark

    1x tracking

    2x leper gnome

    2x timber wolf

    2x explosive trap

    2x freezing trap

    1x misdirection

    1x snake trap

    2x unleash

    2x blue gill

    1x ironbeak owl

    2x mana addict

    1x scavenging hyena

    2x starving buzzard

    1x eagle hornbow

    2x animal companion

    2x deadly shot

    2x kill command

    1x leeroy jenkins

I find that these standard hunter decks pretty much fall flat on their face if you just remember one simple thing, don't have more then 3 minions out at a time.

All the trades are cheap, and this'll keep doggies at bay, most people will use them one by one rather then combo them and basically waste them on board clears that they can't keep up.

Love the current meta, I've never ranked so fast in my life.

Well yes that is ONE strategy ,but there is a LOT more to it than that. However it is not about swooping for a one turn win, that is nice but not needed..Three might be just enough to allow me to kill your Taunt that is blocking the way, especially with Hunters mark makes it easy and it still gives me 3 card draw because i almost never play Hounds unless i have the Buzzard ready or out, unless i am forced to of course.

First of all i played a really smart player a few days ago,i wish i could chat in game,i would have told him i was impressed lol.

Anyhoot,he did just that, even better he actually killed his own creatures a couple times to keep it down to one.

Here is the deal though,a LOT of wins are going to be because the Hunter did not draw worth a crap,a KEY card is the buzzard because he gives the card draw which is so very important to get  the cards you need.

Ok example time...You try to keep only 3 minions ,that is a target number i like,i can get 3 card draw right there and if i Jenkins it is 5 !! and i can use Jenkins to kill a tough Taunt you might have out .Also along the way i will toss a MD trap because that will try to pit your minions against each other ,possibly killing 2 of those 3 or it will simply attack your Hero which is fine as well.

I have won MANY more games with MD hitting their own hero for a win than Jenkins will ever win for me.

To the guy with MANA ADDICT !

Yes it can be a good card but does rely on it to survive  a turn.In this game not many minions survive for very long.

If she was 1 cost,i would for sure use her,but 2 cost means she has to go into turn 3 where everyone has removal.

The Leper for example,he makes it usually through on turn 2 ,that makes him an auto 4 damage.Bluegill is also auto dmg all of course if no taunts up in which case the Addict is not getting through either.

The Hyena is a card i have tried to use many times but just never seems to work consistently and the Snake card i tried about 8 games and never helped me once so i gave up on it .

There are always going to be some troublesome cards/decks but what i like is i have beaten some of those very tough decks but of course luck and a bad play by the opponent always help lol.

Misdirection is a real big key card,if the other guy is not thinking and starts an attack with his biggest guy ,he is either killing his own hero or killing another minion ,maybe both.I have been DEAD in the water numerous times and won because of MD.A very smart players however knows when he has you on the ropes and probably plays through it the correct way but you never know and never give up lol.
