560 GTi 92% load on character creation makes computer reboot!

Anyone else experiencing this?  The temperature goes thru the roof and the computer reboots!  On the char creation!

    Use a program like afterburner to up your fan speed up and keep your GPU cool...

    I think that's more of an issue with your computer than the game. Yes its wierd to have that high gpu use in char creation, but a properly cooled computer should be stable with 100% cpu and gpu usage

    Make sure your drivers and more importantly your BIOS is too. I had a similar problem years ago with an ibis oft FPS. After updating it went away. Now I always make sure I'm up to date before starting up something new.

    Your graphic card should be designed to run constantly near to 100% when playing a graphically intensive game. That sounds like a hardware problem, or a driver problem, more than any problem in ESO.

    Have you checked that all your fans are running, and that your GPU fan is running at 100% speed?

    Is there dust inside your computer interfering with the cooling? If there's a lot of dust, clearing it might help.

    Are you using up-to-date video card drivers. Although it's unlikely to help in overcooling problems, sometimes and some drivers versions can have bugs with the fan settings that cause overheating, and you should always upgrade video card drivers to latest version when facing video card problems.

    Changing thermal compound could also help, but it's a bit complicated operation. EDIT: On second thought, the gain would likely be so small that it's not significant if you have large enough problem to crash already on character creation /EDIT

    Finally, there's always a chance that your computer is built so that it will overheat when playing a graphically intensive game, which would mean you'd need to either improve cooling or limit the GPU speed until it won't generate too much heat.

    99.9% of the time when someone tells me this is happening I ask them when the last time they used canned air to blow out their computer and they tell me "never".

    Use canned air to blow out your components.  In fact, I do it every two weeks.  Dust and Heat cost gamers more money than anything else I know.

    I find it odd in games but whether it be everquest 2 when it first released or this, often the most stressful point in a game is character creation.

    I had the same issue in WoW menus. I got the answer by blizz that because not many things happens there, the CPU almost stop working and let only GPU do 100% of the job.

    So either dont stay much in the menus, or put a program like EVGA's Precision to do your job, fixing the temp curve on your own.

    Yep unless you are heat testing your video card it doesn't pay to linger on the character creation menu in any game -- especially do not get distracted and leave the room with it at that screen.
