No it isn't. It's the same.

Not in my currency it is not. It is considerably more than if I was using USD.

I'm going to play ignorant and pretend you mean that you are paying more than the conversion rate...right? As in you pay MORE in euros than the equivalent in US dollars? Or are you just ignoring that they are different?

There is an easy fix for me. I am ordering a 2 month time card for me. I am not paying 21 dollars a month for any sub. Square Enix tried that with FF and charging EUROS. Got my card statement and the conversion rate at the time was over 21 bucks!

Thank you for your reply though! Found a 60 day timecard at my local retailer !

I am glad you found a sale though...that does rule. But your post about the price is still kinda out there...

Sorry i forgot to add I am in New Zealand. At the current conversion rate .

    14.99 USD to NZD = 17.40
    12.99 EURO to NZD = 20.96

    <div may-blank-within"="">

So yeah  not a HUGE deal. Would much rather continue to deal in USD as I have done with other mmorpgs. Much favorable conversion rate.

I never ONCE said I was being over charged. Do not play with words here. I was simply wondering why New Zealanders are being forced to use EUROS instead of paying in USD as we have done in every single other mmorpg. There are numerous posts about this on the official forums.  /Sigh all you like and roll your eyes whatever.  Anyways no sense in talking to you any further about this. You clearly believe I am accusing Zenimax of over charging me

Being around this website for a bit getting info and looking at forums here and there I have been noticing that people are complaining about monthly fees and that MMO's should be free.........ALLOT!

So it comes to my conclusion that this person has been (and others I've seen complaining about this credit card thing) has been playing free stuff and that this VERY KNOWN title has come out with an mmo and........ sorry for you freeloaders, has a MONTHLY FEE.

For you first time Monthly fee people YES you get the free 30 days but they are just asking for your card so that it automatically charges you for the next month without the trouble of going on the website to do it.

And if you don't want to be charge like that then simply put your card info in and then cancel it and I bet you its going to say some where along the lines "We are sorry that you are canceling, why are you leaving us? blah blah blah" and then it will tell you "Even though you canceled your subscription you can still play till blah blah blah"

    ...... -_-

DAoC did not. You bought the game and could play for the whole month without having to enter CC info. There might be a few others who did this too.

Several have -- I think the most recent was Tera -- I know I chronoscrolled the whole game and only paid for the box.

At the start Tera has a sub and you put your credit card in like many other games.

lol man I apologize. It;s been a long day. I can see how you thought from my above post that I was thinking they had over charged me. Basically all I'm wondering is. Why all of a Sudden as a New Zealand player. I'm being forced to us the EURO currency as opposed to the USD.  But say for a Kiwi player that buys a years sub in EUROS, It's about 40 bucks extra, Yes due to the conversion rate. I am not blaming Zenimax at all for that nor am I accusing them of over charging me.

But like I said in my previous replies. I found a New Zealand game shop that is selling timecards that work out to be around $16.20 NZD per month as opposed to buying them in EUROS which would be over 20 bucks!

Might not seem like a huge deal for some. But on a min wage and a budget. Gotta make each dollar count lol. Easiest thing to do is just setup my sub regardless of if it is in EUROS or whatever. CANCEL the sub and then enter my timecard code, that I purchased locally at a decent discount

    Have a great day

I setup subscription plans when I play mmorpgs that theoretically don't need one at all (LOTRO, Rift etc.). I still found it annoying that they want to withhold the whole amount of the second month in order to provide the first month. If anything, it shows a weakness of their accounting system to handle recurring charges. Considering also how they handled digital/pre-order bonuses, they generally come off as very inexperienced in the genre.

I don'*t know how people can justify this scam with the explanation, oh but some others do it as all. So if other steal, stealing is ok?

It' still is a scam and an extremely customer unfriendly behavior!

Except it's not  a scam. It specifically says that " VALID PAYMENT METHOD OR PAID GAME TIME CARD FOR SUBSCRIPTION AND PERSISTENT INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED"

This would be like you complaining after buying the game that you need an internet connection to play it. Then calling it a scam.

You probably won't see this though because you block anybody who has opinion you don't agree with.

Which reminds me of that quote you have “No path is darker then when your eyes are shut.”

We are in the process of fulfilling your items. If you've already installed the game, you can log in and start playing now."

. I just put through my paypal details. The transaction was pre authorized AND the funds returned immediately to my account. Blizzard and all other companies do this. In fact it's pretty much standard practice to pre authorize a transaction like that.

"5/04/2014 Authorization To Zenimax Online Studio The seller has cancelled this payment and the money has been returned to your account"

     No scam no conspiracy.

We can take off our tinfoil hats now and play the game ^_^

You're right OP. Because you are students who can't afford $15/month (even though video games and MMO's are some of the best entertainment values out there - PERIOD), it is 'disgusting that Zenimax would do what has been standard for over a decade to try and work towards the POSSIBILITY of turning a profit. Companies are dirty and greedy because they should know they owe it to us to just give stuff away, and it's oh-so-wrong to want to turn a profit.

    Grow up.

95% of all p2p mmo's require you to give credit card information at signup.

Lineage 2 was my last subscription MMO. I had the game time code on the inside of my box. Not sure how it was with the digital copy but back then my speed was shit so I would've downloaded 5gb for a week lol

I too have become a victim of Zenimax' dubious payment model. I too am a student on a tight budget, and since a credit card is not a free option here in my country, I am also forced to fork over additional cash just to be able to claim my game and free gametime. My only options are:

    • Pay 10 bucks to get a credit card and wait 14 days before I can actually use it
    • Pay for a second month of gaming time, while I have no intention to play i beyond the first 30 free days (let alone not having enough funds to cover that)
    • Start refunding process with G2A.com, which does not guarantee me getting my money back .If they do grant me a refund, I will probably have to wait more than a month. [Edit] I've gotten into contact with G2a.com complaints department, and they seem to acknowledge a non-optimal way for an mmo to conduct business. I'm hopeful they will accomodate the people suffering from this.
None of the above are acceptable solutions really. Every MMO I have ever played (WoW, WAR, SWTOR, Darkfall, EVE, and others) lets customers claim cdkeys and use their free gametime before an actual subscription is required. Oh and support departments usually give acceptable answers, Zenimax' support department just gives standard answers which do not actually answer the question you asked them.

I'm wondering how many people are in the same boat as us (preferably bought through G2A.com), so we may combine our forces so we can be seen as (and represent ourselves to Zenimax/G2A.com) as one entity. Please show us you are a victim as well by posting here!

Mind blowing how a company can make such poor business decisions. How they trigger potential customers to go out of their way to get what they actually deserve. I don't want to spend my energy on this BS. I just wanted to play the game which I already paid for.

And this is why I stray away from subscription games with 10 feet pole. They make you pay the download, also known as "box" and they charge you to use their service but oh god you just wait and see what an incoming shitstorm you get if you decide to go to a private server with the game YOU BOUGHT :) So yeah, subscription games have NO VALUE and as such should just go the fuck away. Everybody defending them is a stuck up ***** which is not worth getting myself banned for explaining :)

Instead I love playing the games everybody loves to hate and then I prove the haters wrong and they rage like little kids. Its fun, you should try it.

I applaud the sub model if the game company offers enough content on a monhtly basis that justifies it.

    Fantastic…
The GF is pretty much in the ‘F*ck this game, f*ck ZOS’ mentality atm… as students we have to manage the little money we have, and extra $30 on top of our past months of saving to get The Imp Ed just to use our “free” 30 days is BS… Credit cards are a no, and you need one for Paypal to properly work… paying and extra $30 is the only option we have apparently… fantastic…

Should there be an option to redeem your free 30 without payment?
Anyone else in a similar situation?

Can you believe it? You have to buy game-time if you have no CC or paypal account. So much for "free 30 days"...

This is so disgusting, exploiting any means possible...

Are you really doing this? Are you really stepping on this train, dear gamers, you who are currently playing this game? This gets a very new and exciting episode if you do

You do not need a credit card for enrollment. Use one of the following:

Paypal - You do not have to register a CC to Paypal, a debit card works fine. I assume you have a bank account and therefore you have a debit card. I have a Paypal account and I have never owned a credit card in my life.

Card - Now, if you have a debit card and its a 'VISA' "Debit" card, you can still use it as if it was a credit card via online transactions. It still goes through and it still works.

So, you have a means to play, but I think you are being a bit of a drama queen at the moment.
