What do you think? See who makes the most accurate prediction lol.
I know there are a number of posters on here who thought ESO would be a flop, and have already been proven wrong. I read the bad reviews too, but checked it out myself, and boy were they wrong lol.
This game is totally awesome, and the more you play it the more surprises it throws at you. People in game seem to be loving it, and it seems to be growing exponentially. I have 3 people who said they had no plans to buy it after they read the reviews, all of whom plan to buy now they have seen it for themselves via mine / friends and heard word of mouth.
I think this one will be a snowball effect too, like WoW was when it inflated. The question is, do you think it'll take as long to snowball as WoW did, and do you think it'll exceed the subscriber base by far?
I wonder what impact this will have on other MMOs. Many feel like ghost towns if population drops by 30% or more.

Note: There are no formal figures out yet.
One source recently listed, 3 days after release on the 4th, a ranking that placed ESO at the TOP of a WEEKLY sales list for PC AND MAC titles worldwide. That was #1 for US and the world. At the time it was #7 in the EU.
Another more up to date article has already moved it's ranking up to #2 in the EU. With 4 days left to go, it's fairly safe to say it should top the charts there too.
How long do you think it'll hold that position?
Ahh so lots of people thinking it'll hit that size?
No - Those figures did not include digital preorders etc. Also, they treat ALL titles in the same manner ie for sales / release dates etc.
I believe you're misinformed about the cash shop - there is no cash shop, and they have stated outright there will NOT be a cash shop, if you refer to gaming advantage. There are services available for extras though, the same as they did for WoW, including faction changes, name changes and changing character appearance - trivial bits that don't affect the game but involve messing about.
F2P? I remember people saying that about WoW, and from what I've seen this will be a far bigger hit. There's more chance of snow in hell lol.
Easy OP. We don't have exact sales figures, and we don't know how much Zenimax needs to recoup developement costs, plus to keep it running as a sub mmo for now.
As for everyone loving it, funny thing is, this site as some of the biggest collection of fans outside of specific sites like Tamriel Foundry, Official forums and Reddit sub forums.
If you go to IGN. Gamespot, and general video game sites and check the comments, the top voted ones tend to be bashing the game, namely the business model.
And while i don't trust it, go check out Metacritic's user score.

EDIT: As for being a sucess on the level of WOW. Sorry, but that's a million to 1 shot.
SP fans of the serie are angry about having to pay a sub.
Of course it will sell well. Just look at the title and you know that already.
All you need to do is have that title, make a goodish game, sell at a good time (no other good games coming out around that time) and you'll sell millions.
Those "10 million copies" and "market majority" topics are nothing less than ridiculous though. It's just that fanboy juice talking. Please post again when sober.
..Cake..
I like the game. If Zenimax can deal with some of the more annoying bugs, I think that there is a decent chance that this game may be able to retain a million players, or more, world wide on a longer term subscription basis.
I would be surprised if any subscription based game every again reached earlier WOW levels, since there seems to be so much competition in the MMO industry and there are games that cater to various play styles.
as opposed to the countless ridiculous negative threads out there? but since those are negative they are accepted here.
this is the best AAA mmo on the market right now, i don't see the OP as that much of a stretch honestly.
it likely may not get the total subs wow has but in the west it could.
especially if they are fast in fixing some of the minor issues this game is having right now.
I dont think ESO will grab more people than SWTOR
SWTOR: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/star-wars-the-old-republic
ESO: http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-elder-scrolls-online
Best AAA game on the market is it. You guys need to stop with the WoW like sub numbers. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. TESO isn t , IMO, even close to the quality of game as WoW was or is. Now you see how I said IMO.
It always amazes how people are all exciting about a new game and never think about the long run. Sure it's fresh and fun NOW, but what about in 2 months ? Will you still play it once you level 1 or 2 chars and know all the dungeons by heart ?
IMHO ESO will suffer the same fate that SWTOR, TSW and every previous themeparks: lots of players during the free month, then massive drop in sub... especially in September, once people get tired of doing the same thing and WoD is released)
Since you're actually considering that it might reach WoW sub levels I shouldn't really waste my time by responding... but I've got a few minutes of dead time so:
I don't understand what you mean by accepted?.. both far-fetched opinions are equally as bad, whether against or towards the game.
How is it the best AAA mmo ?... does it do everything better than wow? gw2? rift? etc
..Cake..

I disagree with the negativity statement here, I been lurking these forums for months and on the fence stil about this game but I do say that from the lurking I have done it is quite obvious that ANY negative ESO thread is locked or deleted very quickly by this site. Is likee the site is more bothered about losing ad revenue than people sharing their honest experiences with the game unless the experience is positive.
Go check out the majority of general gaming news sites like IGN etc and the feedback is very negative.
The game HAS had a rocky launch and hopefully it can recover nicely so they can take my money
The metacritic story has 562 replies; nowhere near a decent sampling. After playing every major MMO since 1996; I will have to say this is a top 5 AA title. Folks can bash ESO all they want but this title is going to be around and healthy for years to come.
Well, the metacritic user-reviews are just a huge load of BS.
On the one end you have the 10 Ratings from fans (which is not accurate or honest), and on the other end you'll have the 0-1 ratings from People just trying to smack down the rate (which is even more idiotic and dishonest)
Look up most of the big games in the last years. There are always people there stomping the rating to the ground for no purpose.
to show this ridiculous ratings, for example look at:
Titanfall 6,2 (mostly done by BF4 and COD fans)
Diablo 3 3,9 (lol, i mean, its not perfect, but come on 3,9?)
D3 reaper of Souls 6,6
Hearthstone 6,8
WoW 7,0
huge games just attract huge trolls
Back to Topic:
ESO will do good, just because its a good game. But will be nowhere near WOW numbers, just because that is not even possible anymore. It will find ist place somewhere in the range of GW2 and SWTOR. So in the top 3 of mmorpgs.
Hodor!
I count: WoW, GW2, Rift, Tera/Archeage and hmmm... Age of Conan... all of these games have more content and depth, overall, than ESO so for a person that's been around for nearly 20 years you sure did miss allot of games... Hell EVE-Online shoots this game out of the water in consistent sub numbers.
If we start trusting Metacritic user scores, then Auto Assault (8.5) and Tabula Rasa (8.0) are massive successes, and WoW (7.0) lost to Everquest 2 (7.5) and even Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (7.1).
Where did you find those services? The only think I see in the store is a horse and the imperial edition upgrade....
