....... And people are getting their panties twisted because you have to literally spend 5 seconds instant travelling to one of the 5 other major cities that offer everything Lions Arch did in terms of services and goods?
No.
Every freely available location is missing something. No single location has it all. Well, that is, unless you pay or grind for it. Down play the significance of the work-around however you want. ANET introduced an increased level of inconvenience to the players with alternatives behind pay-walls. Period. It's the direction this ship has sailed in.
I just can't help but wonder what hides behind some of these new systems ANET is working on. Will there be more hidden costs in them? I hope not, but I wouldn't be shocked to see it.
You are misrepresenting the changes to pursue an agenda I think. There is no increased level of inconvenience added with the loss of Lion's Arch. The 1000 gem passes to the Airship and the Royal Terrace provide increased convenience over what Lion's Arch offered but without them you don't suddenly find yourself worse off. They are an optional tool and personally I purchased neither of them.
With the demise of Lion's Arch it is actually quicker to access some services than it used to be (and significantly less laggy).
Mystic Forge is now right next to the bank in Vigil Keep and is closer than before and there are no stairs to go up and the bank is less crowded.
Crafting is in any of the major cities and spread about about the same as it was in Lion's Arch but I personally find it easier to navigate Divinity's Reach for crafting than I did in Lion's Arch. You can get there from Vigil Keep by going through a portal about 10 seconds from the bank then waypointing to the crafting area. All up travel time of maybe 20-25 seconds. So inconvenient...
Trading Post access while crafting in Divinity's Reach is quicker than it used to be (waypoint there, then waypoint back). While in Vigil Keep it is about the same distance from the bank as it used to be in Lion's Arch.
Access to the activities NPC is about the same distance I believe, although I just have an alt logged out next to her.
The problem with Lion's Arch was that it tended to force players into a small area of the map around the bank/mystic forge/trading posts/crafting stations and it made it very laggy for a lot of people. The current arrangement spreads people out more and smooths out the game in these locations significantly.
They're doing these feature patch to save people time, effort, money and improve gameplay experience, and you guys are still butt hurting about that ship and the LA thing? Geez people really can complain about anything... How hard is it to teleport around and do the stuff you usually do? LA was so large that it wasn't even that convenience in the first place.
i see some people says gw2 is p2w, i think; they werent play gw2 or they are nubs or they dont know what is p2w or theyare so sad and so negative about everything. highest stat items are ascended and you dont need to buy gems to make these, you need to play little bit smartly. thats all.
I like how gw2 cash shop is also. You actually have change to work with your money and get gems with your normal game play. And good if they will keep going this way like now. I hope from bottom of my heart that this game wont go into full "free to play" mode, that is my biggest fear. Then i would say bye bye
This game has evolved to the point that it feels dead. Guilds die down, servers die down... and no new content ever (living story = garbage content, no matter what you say). The game was fun while it lasted, but it doesn't last long...

I visited many times in other servers and game isnt dead it depends what server you are in. My "home" server is totally dead but some other server are much more active, and players everywhere. And no wonder, in this case if there is over 50 servers available. In my opinion thats just too much haha ><
It is just not a world! Even them calling it "living WORLD content", never will be. I feel so disconnected from GW2..... Why did they make all these zones and the fast travel. When you went true it once, got the world discovery achievement, it's over and boring. Don't like the pvp in separate shards ether, they should have made faction wars and give guids meaning. Had such high hopes for this game, after gw1. Gw1 had much more to explore and was had discovery. I try to log in once and a while, see whats going on with the puppetier, just don't get it and don't see anything change. + The armors still look bad, espesiaily the cloth and there is no real goal anymore. Sad, but done with it.

I've only been playing GW2 for a month now, however I played the original guildwars for the better part of 8 years.
I think the game is good. It has some improvements that needs to be done, but the game is fundamentally good. I'd say the things that need the most love is PvP and end game PvE content. Those seem to be a little lackluster at the moment. Perhaps make the crafting system more important/relevant. I understand crafting is important if you want to craft ascended stuff, but I think it should extend beyond just ascended items. I'd like to see fishing be a "thing" too. I realize that's taking concepts from games like WoW, but fishing in WoW was alot of fun. I see no harm in emulating that.
After reading the upcoming patch notes I must say the best addition to the game will be the increased player capacity per server, or the implementation of super-servers. The game world feels very empty because...well...because it's so freaking big. Not that that's a bad thing. Not at all. Just needs a much higher player capacity to make the world feel more alive.
As far as the classes goes. They seem to be pretty well balanced. My only issue is that customization is very limited feeling because of the way skills/weapons works. I'd like to choose my combat skills but still keep the same weapons. I feel very restricted. Not only that, but there's just not that many skills. The way skills and weapons works in GW2 needs to change to allow more customization IMO.
Great game with lots of potential and I plan to keep playing.
