Cyrodiil: "we’re the only side that’s showing up"

ButeoRegalisButeoRegalis Member UncommonPosts: 594

"I could gloat about how my Guild’s campaign (Hopesfire) is dominated by the Ebonheart, but as Mike B pointed out to me earlier: that’s like saying we’re winning the war even though we’re the only side that’s showing up."

Eh, so what's going on here? Ebonheart in this campaign is overpopulated and now there is an instance of Cyrodill that doesn't have any opposition? Is there an instance (or more) of this campaign that are balanced?

I read on http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Cyrodiil_(Online) the campaign lasts (possibly?) three months or longer?

That would suck if you are stuck 3 months in an empty PvP area.

I believe that the situation is giving credence to the pre-launch  prognostication that ES (sp) fans, for the most part, will be uninterested in pvp.  Combine that with the low percentage of MMO players that like pvp (no matter what the pvp'ers would like to think) and you have empty pvp zones.   The only other factor I see as being potentially relevant is that people are waiting to max out on levels before pvp'ing.

I have not PvP'd yet, not because I don't want too, but because I've been doing so much exploring and questing and crafting. I haven't made it there yet....but soon! I wonder if a lot of folks are doing the same...idk

i just play the game and quest, maybe later ill check it out.

not really that into pvp ing.

if it was a sandbox game and it felt like you were contributing to the game then ill be more interested.

That's what I am doing also, the PVE part of the game just has its hooks into me to deeply at the moment to even consider trying the PVP. I will be trying the PVP eventually, hopefully it will still be going strong at that point whenever it may be.

zerg vs zerg castle-crashing is not what i consider entertaining player versus player.

not having duels ingame should tell you that the game has no focus on serious pvp. Its teambased zerg vs npc, with some random minor cool fights around the zerg. not often enough to count for me.

i dont know who at Zenimax thought it was a good idea to make 3 month long pvp campaigns... That should have been one week long or something like that. I can see they made it 3 months long to try and keep people subscribed for 3 months in row but they missed the part where people will get tired of that long campaign and leaving en masse before its finished.

Dawnbreaker has been under AD control since 2 days into early release.  It's awful out there.  We can't take a resource let alone a keep before getting wiped by hordes of AD.  I have actually thought about saving up some AP and buying my out of Dawnbreaker to find a more balanced campaign.  However, I do not want to abandon the Pact on Dawnbreaker either.  My only hope is that Zenimax will offer incentives for the lower population alliances within these unbalanced campaigns.  Otherwise Cyrodiil is going to be a very lonely place on many campaigns.

they should have made leveling with pvp more viable and i think that is what the low turn out is about. i switch over to the more populated servers and it is a whole different game and much better,  i am ad and was on dawnbreaker and it was so boring,  but i left and having fun now.

I'm going to play mainly PvP later but not as level 20.

This is what happens when you have a weird mega server and instances instead of proper server organization for RvR.

If someone is losing in their instance, they'll just stop fighting until they can join a different instance.

I am really surprised how few players are PvPing - it's the best part of the game IMO.

What % of players PvPs in ESO? It seems to me some tiny fraction of 1%.

Because a full campaign holds 2000 players.., think about that.

At peak times there are 2 full campaigns - that's 4000 players, - lets say for a sake of argument that there are 5 full campaigns - that's be 10K players.

So again if the game has a million players - only 1% PvPs at peak with 10K players (10K is an inflated number - I doubt that there's even 5K PvPing).

Again - either nobody PvPs or the actual number of players is MUCH smaller.

My speculation is that there aren't that many folks playing ESO if not even 10K players are PvPing at peak.

Wait one of two months, is too early, 90% of the playerbase is not even 50.

Yeah I want to PVP but I'm not rushing to be there, as its not going anywhere.

I haven't even mastered my 2nd skill bar yet and I'd like to be Vet 10 / good gear before pvping which I'm sure quite a few will be doing also.

And maybe in their opinion it's not the best part of the game.

Remember, this is an elder scrolls game. It's very possible that there are a lot of edler scrolls fans who are playing it for the pve.

I'm in Dawnbreaker as Aldmeri Dominion. Not fun when you are "dominating". Without doing much.

I thougth the whole idea, according to others, was that three faction pvp would have the underdogs gang up on the winning side?

I'm just playing the rest of the game first. Why go into PvP under geared with no skills?

I'll admit.  I haven't played this weekend.  Between my 3DS and Skyrim, I found my attention drawn elsewhere.

I am only level 18. I am running through the zones learning my class. If I rush to PVP I won't have the skills or the skill to do a proper job of it. I'm in no rush. I also want to the PVP instances to even out and settle down. I will hit level 50 this month or next. No hurry. Lots to see. Lots to do.

I'm going to pick this up in the next week or so. Kinda waiting for more of the opening crowd to die down, and all. But you get shunted into one of numerous instances? How does it plan on maintaining a balance between factions or long term guild fueds? If you get pounded one cycle, and then next time have much better pvpers so you pound on them.. Back in swg my guild flipped from rebel to imp along with a few others to try to balance it better, but that's not possible so any idea how they plan to achieve some semblance of long term parity?

WUT  it can't be something that logical Xirik  IT MUST BE BECAUSE THE GAME SUCKS AND IT FAILING. HURR HURRR HURR

I used to having other forum people being stupid and illogical but it seems the stupid bug infected the reviewers/bloggers

Auriela Bow and Wabbajack are full campaigns - vast majority of those 4000 players are not 50.

So why aren't those 4000 players waiting? What makes them different?

Cause those are the pure pvpers. there aren't that many of them Most of the mega server are filled with people who like me see cyrodiil as endgame simply because its harder to lvl up there and veteran ranked people destroy any low lvl in 2 hits.

I doubt you play. Only ppl that bring up this "zerg vs zerg" argument are those that might have seen a video or two. Typical around here.

Also....not having duals in game is a bonus IMO. An arena? Sure...but just the asshattery of duals where you are spammed by the pimple ridden masses to dual...I can live without.

    1. the make less instances of cyrodiil

    2. them make it so you gain more yummy stuff if you join a low pop faction instance.

They need more options for PvP. Even something added similar to DAoC realm ranks would be a step in the right direction. I would be happy if the "perks" (if any) would only be functional while in Cyrodil.

But that might upset some PvE players if implemented...toss them a fancy cloak or some other pretty trinket to pacify them :P

Same with me. Usually I am mostly pvp and I'm looking forward to it but I haven't got there yet. I just started Coldharbor though so almost done with main story then I'll probably stay in Cyrodiil.

I have been questing and have forgotten about Cyrodiil. I am not planning to choose a campaign yet. Very soon, right before the 30-free days are over, you will see guilds claiming they are the best hardcore PvPers of all Tamriel and quit. In the meantime, I am taking my time and enjoying the ride. Lots of players running dungeons, and as a healer, I will take advantage of it lol
