Sorcerer Ultimate Overlord...how does it work?

in Elder Scrolls Online

Overlord: Light and heavy attacks are replaced by empowered versions that drain Ultimate.

 

What does that mean? Once toggled is it always active? What type of damage increase and is it worth it? I am running a caster/2hander( sword), not staff, and have enough points for this ability...if I could only make out how it works.

    When you toggle it on, your light and heavy attacks are changed into a frontal electrical AOE attack that does a lot of damage.  It slowly drains your ultimate charge while you use it and you can toggle it off at any time and save the unused ultimate.  It's really nice for burning down adds.

    is it phisycal dmg or magic dmg? can it have crits? is it  weapon or spell crits?

    magic.  I assume it's spell crits.
