for buying gold I mean.  If the gold seller problem is arguably the worst of all american mmo's then that implies that the gold buyer problem is also the worst.  What is it about eso people that they feel no shame in gold buying?

Little early to tell if people are buying a lot of gold. We will have to see as the game goes along. If no change in gold seller spam then people are buying...if less then the goldbuying did not pay off.

I dont know if the gold seller problem is only at the low levels or just happens here in forums. I didnt see one for like 5 days since im in the veteran areas and pvp area. My friends in teamspeak also just mentioned one, the last time and right after reported him.

So basicly this whole gold seller stuff is just a super loved topic in forums or just happens at low level areas (my feelings)

Or could it be that ESO devs offer more incentives to buy gold that other game developers do? ESO has really expensive mount + bag space upgrades available at low levels, and it's built so that casual players who don't want to be bothered with money management feel the need to buy both of them.

The devs are practically telling those people that they should purchase gold or be inconvenienced.

You did read Matt Frior's state of the game? The one in which he said 75% of the CS compalints were about gold sellers; and how they have been working super hard to eliminate the problem. But heh - maybe its an invention and Zenimax are just pretending to be doing stuff.

EU megaserver has been light-years better than US in terms of zone spam and low level bots since release.
  • Nemesis7884Nemesis7884 Member UncommonPosts: 1,023
what do you use the gold for? i only use it for respecs or repairs...??
  • gelraengelraen Member UncommonPosts: 326
On the EU server now, I get almost no gold spam.  Yesterday I didn't see a single message and no longer getting it in the inbox.  Today I saw a couple in Zone chat though.  Definitely improved from what it was like at launch.

I get one gold spam mail every other day now, this is the first MMO ever with of a lot of gold sellers at the start, then thinning to fewer each week, it has never happened before in the history of MMO releases. It has been a total bolt out of the blue. (sarcasm off)

I don't know if we have any evidence that the number of people buying gold is any higher just that ESO is the new kid on the block so it's the focus of all the sellers and scammers right now.  Really I think most of these gold seller messages I see are probably scams.  I just don't see how someone can sell 100k gold for $20 in this game at any level so it looks like personal information fishing to me more than actual gold selling.

Don't worry in a month and a half they will all move to Wildstar and it will quite down.

People have already duped all the gold they will ever need, no more need for gold sellers.

I've seen worse gold spam and botting... it's just an indication that, rightly or wrongly, the gold selling industry was/is anticipating a very large market here... that's all THAT means.

I mean, shit, even Zygor of WOW fame made a guide add-on for ESO.... the only game other than WOW they have done this for.

The players in game? It's an excellent community - much better than average,

    Agreed.

Gold spammers now hit every major MMO release en mass to get a footing and get their name out. The community doesn't really have to be full of any gold buyers for this to happen. It's basically just one big ad campaign at the moment for the sellers who hope people will start buying.

In June we will see the same thing happen in WS.

For now the community, while a bit rowdy at the moment, is fine in ESO.

There are 3 types of people in the world.
1.) Those who make things happen
2.) Those who watch things happen
3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

They recently did something that wiped out a massive portion of the bots.  Gold spamming in zone wide channels is something that will never end and there won't be a way to get rid of it completely as it's not Zenimax's fault that consumers are computer-retarded.

I was in a dungeon yesterday and a GM turned up and killed 4 or 5 bots camping a boss.

Yeah I love it when the GM blasts the zone, "GM here to ban some bots, report them to me!" Then you watch as bots go bye bye in real time. Very satisfying.

THAT is awesome.... damn... I would've LOVE'd to have seen that. Hell, I'd dare-say it's worth the sub!!

Final Fantasy XIV gold selling problem was WAY worse than ESO.  That shit was epic. It was a pain in the ass to report or block those idiots too.  One of the main reasons I cancelled that sub as well.

My guess would be that after the recent dupe, that I am fairly sure most farmers took ample advantage of, most gold sites sit on HUGE piles of currency that they got for nothing.

The competition is fierce and gold prices are dropping fast.

I have not checked in a while but a pro tip is, check gold sites and compare that to what is feasible for one person to gather and you will have a pretty good idea on how severe the exploits is in a game.

Dont forget that it is a megaserver and therfore you could see more gold spammer aswell.

The megaserver places you into certain "channels"

    * after every login you are probably in a different one

    * after every loading screen you have probably a chance to be in a different channel

    * different channels if you change locations and so on

Basically with every channel change you have a new and higher chance to see gold spammer in the chat....

But, since i did reach higher lvl areas 25+ I have almost not seen any gold spammer.

Not to mention anyone who would be stupid enough to buy gold is probably banned from duplicating items, its about the same level of morals.   I think all the gold sellers lost their customer over the duplication banning.

Gold sellers tends to be banned so sellers are usually either low level or use hacked accounts.

But if people are buying a lot or not is hard to say yet. Some surely are but that happens in any MMO,if the sellers are plenty a few months from now then they are and Zenimax are doing a bad job but at launch all larger MMOs have gold sellers in large numbers.
