This idiocy is why Gamestop stopped taking returns of open games.  When I worked there, you had two weeks, no questions asked. Then gamers started using our store to "rent" games for free. There was one guy who when we went through his customer file, had "bought" and returned over 80 games in a 1.5 year span. So two things....one, if you got VR5 that fast, you used the exploit. Now that it has been fixed,, it's much harder to level. And two, you played this WAY too much to deserve a refund. At 40 houra, you only paid 1.50 per hour, which when compared to 99% of paid entertainment,  is a steal.

VR3, almost 4, not a single game-breaking bug that has hindered my progression (so far one quest that i haven't been able to complete in Grathwood VR area, which'll probably be fixed within a week or so). Sad you've had something like that, but onwards!

ps. i've cleared every zone thus far.

If you look here paypal state quite clearly their resolution center does not cover intangible goods . These include digital items and online games . I highly doubt Zenimax would offer any refund because they know Paypal would not make them offer a refund in the case of a dispute . For a start they would know someone would come into forums online if they could as the OP just has and they would get loads of bogus disputes from people who just want to get a free game .

By all means try it . I soon think you will find how valid the opening statement is and just how truthful the OP is .

I wonder how many people purchased the game from eBay. Reading skills FTW.

Check out the OPs post he clearly states he brought the game through paypal . Indeed they are for the win sadly you don't seem to possess them do you ?  You do know that paypals transactions are not limited to ebay ?

I would love to see a game company give refunds to people only with the promise that they CAN NEVER RETURN.

The game works. It's got some bug sure but what game doesn't? If people can make it to max level than the game works.

I have my doubts about the reasons people are seeking refunds. This is a cheap way to get a refund. Disgusting really.

    That's my two cents

I would think that requesting a charge back because you didn't like a product is against some law as well. All in all not a smart idea to do it.

    And?

Dont abuse chargebacks and it has absolutely no significance whatsoever.

There are a lot of people here that throw out charge backs a lot for solving stuff. It should be used sparingly and not just because you did not like something.

For the past 2 weeks, my character was unable to progress due to a game breaking bug in the quest system in the VR of this game.  After many attempts to report this bug and scams of the forms and bug reports that found people who were affected by the same bug, i just decided to give the refund thing a shot on paypal.  Zenimax luckly gave their refund decision to paypal them selves rather then have it go directly to their own company.  This is good news for anyone who doesnt like the game and wants a refund before their free month is finished.   All you really need to do is claim that the game is falsely advertised and doesnt allow you to progress.  For me this is all true, it was falsely advertised that i would be able to play in cyridil but i was not because it would crash every time i would attempt to zone into it and nor could I complete a fantastic story line in ESO because of numerous game breaking bugs and then of course the one that eventually stopped me from gettng to the next zone for 2 weeks.

Dont allow Zenimax to get away with this backwards game and their bad marketing/horrible support.  If you dont like the game, return it.  It sets a horrible precedent if you let a company like this walk all over you after they release a game that surely should have stayed in development for another year at least.   This is a serious post btw, this is something i actually did, and anyone who his stuck or just generally unsatisfied with the game should follow suit.

For anyone who doesnt believe that this is real, i will enclose the email showing the refund if i have to.  Im not a troll, i really did do this.  This game is an insult to its entire playerbase and any mmogamer.  Its a bad precedent to let a company get away with a sub fee game that also includes pay walls and one that isnt finished by a long shot at that.

Edit: Just for all the flamers to flame some more, i think this is probably the first game I've returned in almost 10 years now.  Its not like i think its ok to go on steam play an entire game and return it.  If any of you bought a game like warz for example, did you return it?  and if you didn't do you condemn the people who did?  just something to think about.

Anyhow ive got to run, going to get my wildstar preorder ready so i can refund it later...

Great. Grand. Wonderful. Now stop posting about this because no one cares about your stupid crappy experience. Everyone else is having too much fun to post here.

  • RaquisRaquis Member RarePosts: 1,029

I cant wait for wildstar to release to cause I am going to buy that average game but if ESO is getting so mush hatred and it is a good game I want to see how the people are going to crush wildstar.

I got a beta invite for archelord then watched a gameplay video of it,it looks just like arcgeage and blade&soul so I passed.

are you people realy going to play these cheap games and pay for them?

And the reason i put it on these forums is because when i tried to put one on the Elder scrolls forms where most people need the post to be, Zenimax immediately deleted the post.

Are you suggesting that people are so stupid that they don't know what refunds are?

*forgot to mention, my question is rhetorical

Zenimax have it in their TOA that customers rescind all their rights to a refund however in countries like mine (Aus) we are protected from such rubbish. I got mine thru this morning as well, took 5m to arrange with CS (email) and 3days to arrive in my account. There are several other countries that protect their citizens consumer rights also and I think his intent was to let ppl know it is possible to get a refund as opposed to explaining what a refund is.

if you really think this is protecting its citizens rights by asking for a refund on a game three weeks after playing it the entire time you need to go back to school. This law wasnt designed for people like you that can basically play something for free for a month, devour the content and then get all their money back. Regardless if you liked it or not if you play it for a week or two you deserve to pay the box fee regardless if you like it or not. Unless you had a technical issue preventing you from playing there is no excuse for this sort of thing. Bugs happen in all new games including old ones like DAOC and EQ its part of the technical time in software thats unavoidable.

I just finished my lunch and it wasn't as good as I had hoped, I believe I'm due for a refund.

Actually it's more like,"I just ate most of my lunch but I found bugs in it; I think I'm due for a refund."

Should've stopped eating that lunch when you bit the first bug. OP got to VR5. It's okay though, many women do the same thing with clothes. They "buy" something, wear it with the tags hidden once or twice and then return it because "it didn't fit right."

People did the same thing with D3 too. They played 150 hours and when they hit the wall asked for their money back.

It is one way of solving stuff. But companies are smarter and dont want to get blacklisted by credit card companies by getting bunch of chargebacks. But if they insist, chargebacks exist for a reason.

So, I've played for a month, got one character to level 35, and decided last evening to cancel my sub and pursue another game.

I did briefly think about asking for a refund,  but I realized that would be dishonest, I can't say they didn't deliver what I expected, the game play, the launch experience, and I never ran into the many more severe issues others have described having.

It mostly worked, and I played it a lot during this time, rare was the moment when I couldn't advance my character when I wanted to.

So, no harm, no foul, not likely to return, but no reason to ask for a refund either in my situation.

    YMMV

No, that's not what I'm saying. That what you're saying I'm saying.

Obviously, I'm not the person to decide this, but there should be some acceptable limit of consumption before refunding is disallowed.

It's difficult to put in such a limit due to it inherently being a slippery slope. My comment is only in relation to the amount of consumption the OP engaged in before deeming the game not fit for playing. I think he played enough that he shouldn't be refunded, but I'm not Zenimax, or Paypal.

I don't think it's wrong to ask for a refund if you're unhappy with something, but I just personally find it inappropriate to consume, engage, or experience a product or service and then ask for a refund once you've essentially received what you've paid for.

How many hours are "too many" hours before he's received the entertainment he paid for? I don't know. There's no rule for this. But in this specific instance, I do feel that he exceeded what would be acceptable.

Uhhhh...yes, you SHOULD get a refund if you found a bug in your food--regardless of how much you ate prior to discovering said bug. And if the restaurant was worth two $*&^@ they would offer you a gift card in the hopes that you would eat there again.

I'm not trying to carry this metaphore over to the video game. I just thought your comment was so fundamentally wrong that it required a response.

No, youre wrong. These guys are saying that if you eat some amount of your meal youre not entitled to a refund if you find a hair in your meal. Arbitrarily saying "you ate 3/4 of your hamburger so youre not entitled to a refund no matter what and you shold just suck it up or be accused of stealing or abusing certain systems that exist exactly for this purpose"

It does sound stupid, doesnt it?

ANet had 6 MONTHS refund policy for GW2. And people here act as if asking for refund because of broken stuff that isnt fixed in PAID PLAYTIME is a theft. tsk tsk, they deserve games they get in the state they get them frankly.

This helped me greatly, got my $80 back.

Everyone who's dissatisfied with this game should do this IMO.

It may make future companies think twice about releasing unfinished games, if they loose enough money.

Some of my friends are trying to get refunds by calling Zenimax support directly because they didn't purchase via PayPal, I've heard that someone did get a refund this way as well but I cannot confirm that.

    Thanks for the post!

Cant say Ive experienced too many bugs, loading screen problems yes, if you thought a MMO was going be released without bugs & problems then you are stupid for buying it when it was released & not waiting a bit longer. I bet you are one of these sorts of people that want everything for free, a sense of entitlement that everything you spend your minimum wage on has to be perfect. Someone that would sue starbucks because their coffee was too hot & not drinkable right away instead of just giving it 5 minutes to cool down.

Game is better off without you.

Difference is you dont expect a bug in your food like you expect bugs in a computer game. Pretty simple.
