I briefly considered this game and check in on it from time to time.
The terms 'sandbox' and 'pay to win' are mutually exclusive in my way of thinking; however, I think it is nice to have a niche game where people can buy their wins with daddy's credit card. It gives all of those people a place to hang out so that other titles aren't polluted with their presence.
Except that's not what happened here, no matter how many times people want to say otherwise.
It WAS possible at one point in time to legally raise a keep to the 26 million HP. The keep was built during this time and was later sold to GUTS. It has not been destroyed, so it retains the higher HP. Everything was done legally and the guild(s) who have controlled the keep obviously want to retain the advantage they worked for. This is why SV will not alter the HP of the keep. If people are really mad enough about this, they always have the option of destroying the keep once and for all.
Unfortunately there is a solid contingent of folks on this forum who want to paint SV and MO in a negative light and they are drawn to situations like this like moths to the flame.

I don't think it's unique to just mortal or SV. I think it happens when ever their reality TV show goes to commercial. This just happens to be the topic closest to the top.

So the people that saying that the specific keep was destroyed and rebuild and only had 16 mil hp together with the ones that sold the keep to Guts are all lying and you and the Guts leader are the ones that are consistent to the truth despite the fact that you dont provide any facts at all. Sounds about right. If you continue insisting on your "truth" then you might believe it aswell. People can judge by themselfs. Dunno why but i m not even surprised that fanboys are blatantly trying to excuse this joke of a company that keeps on repeating the same old crap for more than 3 years now.
Like it or not SV and MO dont need anyone to "paint them in a negative light". They are doing an excellent job on that on their own. And if that wasnt the case no one would bother with discussing all those crap that comes every now and then around MO. We would all be playing the game. Thats not the case though and just because you and a couple more "stating" otherwise, doesnt change a single thing.

Sorry, but that's utter nonsense for an approach to design. Even if I humor you and agree that the events were as you describe them, that doesn't excuse the keep keeping its high HP. The HP of keeps was adjusted for a reason, together with other game mechanics. This should have resulted in all existing keeps having their HP reduced as well, to keep the balance in the game, regardless of how much people "worked" for it. It is ridiculous to balance the game while leaving some single objects with old values. If you balance some values in a game, you adjust them all, not selectively.
So yeah, SV doesn't need anyone to pain them in a negative light as it's obvious they don't have a clue in what they're doing.
The events were as I described. I honestly don't care if you believe me or not.
That being said, I agree with you that it would be better to lower the keep's HP and be done with it. This has caused a huge amount of negative backlash and I don't see how SV can possibly think that keeping the keep at a higher HP is good for the game or the community. If I were them, I would have lowered the keep to the same HP as the others and compensated the owning guild to make up for their loss of resources. That seems the only fair way to resolve the issue. Unfortunately I don't make the decisions.
Regardless, I enjoy the game and it doesn't really bother me that one keep has higher HP than the others. If someone were really intent on destroying it, I don't think the extra HP would prevent them from doing so.
I gotta say Diph, you are one of the more reasonable people on the official forums. I would comment on some of the threads you have been in buit my latest sock was banned over there last week and I dont feel like making another one until something really funny happens with MO (which certainly will at some point) and this HP debacle does not merit taking the effort required to make a new email and go through the motions.
Its totally off topic but in many posts you make very sensible arguments and suggestions and explain some of the major problems with MO. You are, of course- Correct. Most of us here probably would agree and have been saying much the same things since beta in some cases. And itass never going to change.
At the least Starvault could max the structural Keep HP at 26million and allow for the other owners of keeps to build higher HP up to the same max. I don't really care myself b/c I don't do anything like a seige or even have a guild. I'm happy to roam the World. Collecting mats and killing shite.

I really appreciate it man. I enjoy a little trolling every now and then, but bringing good discussions, helping new players, and trying to help find solutions to long standing problems is kind of a hobby of mine. Hope you get back on it soon!
I can understand why people would be upset by this. This is the difference between "haves" and "have nots". Another real issues lies within the fact that someone is getting screwed either way. Either the enemy of the keep has to put more effort into blowing it up, or the owners of the keep wasted extra resources on something which was nerfed out from under their feet. We have voluntarily put ourselves back into the "Have-nots", and I don't mind that.
I completely agree with you by the way. With the incoming "Dominion" territory control patch, it would be very wise of SV to allow players to upgrade their keeps back up to the maximum of 26m HP, for the fairness of all. This way, the current keep owner does not get screwed while all other keep owners have the chance to invest in the HP themselves.
Had to edit because I am not used to this style of forums! Zenforo for life.
Electrum owned the Keep at one point. When he owned that keep spot it was not possible to get it to 26 Mil hp. His keep was capped at 16 Mil or close.
That Keep was destroyed.
This means very simply that any Keep built after it, would also be capped at 16 mil.
Also add to that, any other Keep or building that had more than the 'new' maximum hp when the 'passive building' mechanic was taken out had their hp lowered manually by the GM team.
Try and swing it anyway you like, the Keep is dodgy.
The reason why this had to come to the MMORPG forums is because anything mentioned about it on the standard forums was very quickly deleted by moderation and any attempt to bring it up with the GM staff was snubbed and people were even threatened with bans.
Thankfully, MMORPG offers the chance for people to have their say without it being highly moderated against certain groups of people.

As a relative newcomer to territory control, you do not seem to understand why the HP total was lowered in the first place. When the server actually had population, it was universally deemed that siege preparation was a painfully boring and 'unfun' process. The devs understood that keep HP was too high for there to be fun sieging activity. Much of the population quit because sieges were not fun except for a few brief moments of fighting, and when the fighting did occur half the enemy population was invisible. Neither issue has been fixed.

Yes- And we enjoy a good MO or SV rant better than the next guy. The reason we do is because most of us are ex (operative word being EX) players.
Thats the problem here and you continue to avoid the question. Are you playing? If this bothers you so much then you actually can take action further than just bitching. We did our part- We quit playing due to the plethora of insane issues over there along with shadyness from GMs and Staff.
-Now, all we can do is bitch and have a good laugh.
And this thread was a good laugh. Another added notch in the belt of SV being a fucked up company. It isnt 8 pages funny though- And if you are still paying them you need to drop it and just understand that "it is what it is" OR do something about it.
