Or they are just doing what most MMO dev companies have done for subscribers who had to deal with downtimes at launch - WoW gave what, 7 days total due to all the server issues they had at launch?
It's pretty standard.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"
This is great news considering I have been Disc-golfing a lot since the season has hit and can't wait to have some time for ESo. Gj being nice and I will be subbing.
FF14 did this same thing when they had some major issues during their second launch.
Did that mean they were losing lots of people?
Nope!

Yes!
lol. just found that too funny not to point out.
In fact the first launch was so dire, the game went totally free while they tried to fix it, in the end they took the whole thing down and redesigned the game, as a result FFXIV;ARR is now an exceedingly good game with a lot of players, some servers you still can't create toons on because there isn't room for more players. We can only hope that Zenimax does the same for ESO, and yes, they probably are losing players, not that they had that many to begin with given Zenimax's current stance. 5 days is probably the least they could do to make up for all the launch issues + downtimes, perhaps even 10 days might not have been enough to truly compensate players, given that so many of these issues at launch are still there, and have been since beta.
Originally posted by Knotwood I bet if they gave people 1 free month, I think it would be good enough to keep people from complaining in this day and age.
Some people would still complain though probably not as many, only fixing the problems would really stop them, but at least they would feel as though Zenimax at least was compensating players for the things they are having to put up with in the game. One thing for sure though, until the game is actually fixed, it won't be releasing on console, releasing it in its current state on console would be unthinkable in the extreme. But yes, i do think they should at least stop charging players a subscription until the game is fixed, that i think would not be an unreasonable thing to ask for.
More likely, if they gave out 1 free month to compensate, you'd then see towards the end of that month more complaints about bugs, more cancellations as they've had an extra month to reach VR

Or they are just being nice.

Are they being nice?
I wouldn't call a smart business decision nice.
Was it in their best interest to do this before our first month is over?
Absolutely!

The Deep Web is sca-ry.
Will help them keep people too when they show they are willing to put their hands up and dole out a few days

They gave me 5 days, thats after the 30 days extra and the 6 days extra they already gave me.
This is after I already returned the game to the seller.
That account has like 60 days left on it still -.-
Well, FFXIV had a reason to be extra nice to their customers and give them extra time, lets remember the past with that game.
Heck ALL Previous people who bought the game at all got the new game and free game time on it.
So yeah, I'd say this and that are completely different things.

Oh, how wonderful . . . Would've enjoyed an extra five days if it wasn't for the fact that the code they gave me doesn't work.
Oh well . . . Hmm, just for curiosity's sake, anyone else get a dead code?
You know what's fun about chaos? I do, but I won't tell.
It will be applied automatically. Mine just did, along with a few friends :-)
Ah. Well alright then.
