Final optimizing is the very last thing to be done, always. That is just how the software development process works. It is not like they are going to forget to do it. There are standard procedures for developing software, and it is one of them. Patience in Beta will save you from a lot of headaches.
I play Rift on Ultra with about 60 fps in the open world and around 30-40 in the cities . The reason I use Rift as an example is that is is know as not a known as a very well optimized game . In the Wildstar beta I had to play on medium even then I only got 25-35 fps in the open world and 15-25 fps on average in the first village I came across . God knows what it would be like in a large city hub . I have only done the one beta so it may be that things have improved but based on my experience if I don't get to do another beta or a free trial I wont be buying it on release . I will need to see for myself how things improve . The OP is right it is very much a known issue . Forums are full of posts about it and in the general chat it was full of people talking about it . I think they will put it right because if they don't this game is going to crash and burn in its first month.
Interesting. My gig is pretty much medium: i7 930, 8 gig ram, SSD and Amd 7850. I get minimum 50 fps no matter where i am and all of my settings are ultra high (except shadows, they are on medium).
Developers said "we are working on fps and optimization issues" lots of time before. They are still saying it. Just check reddit subforum of WS. Infact, i never seen a developer talks that much!
Right now, UI 2.0 problems (addons) are the number one suspect of fps loss. Lots of people had huge fps increases after turning off some ui addons (usually target frame and combat log ones). If you don't get any.. well, don't wait for the marvelous optimization patch, there won't be one. No game ever had one.
But wait for the open beta before making a decision. If it is something game related and not your gig (ui, addons, optimization etc etc), you will see an improvement by then. If your fps is still low in the open beta.. Well, it will be low on launch too. Don't expect miracles.
Edit: Thread title is misleading and awfully wrong. Reported. As i said, developers said that they are working on fps and optimization issues countless times before and still saying it. This is not a special thing, all developers say that.
I don't see it as misleading . Its quite accurate . Also I would like to point out I had friends playing with me in the beta who have machines less powerful than mine that were not getting problems . All other games work fine on my system but there is a problem with this one .
Trying to get a thread locked because your a fan of the game is silly it stops discussion about valid points . There is nothing about the OP statement that could be construed as trolling . Honestly mate get a life .
on my i7-4770k with dual R9 290's running crossfire, i average 40+ fps, i seen it drop one to under 30 in a main town for a couple of seconds, i guess it had a big render todo but i never really see it drop below 40... should i be getting more, sure but it's good enough... when i had my dual 670's in the machine it also run above 40 fps for the most part, but had more frequent drops below 30... on my alienware MX-17 last years model with a GTXM780, it runs smooth over 40 fps for the most part, again not really stellar performance, but the graphics have just undergone a massive overhaul.. the game is looking much more crisp as each beta goes along, and you can tell they're changing and tweaking things... i think it'll be running decent by launch
True the game is poorly optimized at the moment, but spamming forum threads on the forum or submitting customer support requests, isnt gonna speed up their time to fix it. They aren't gonna say yes or no to whether it will be fixed completely in time for release because they dont want to make any promises for something they are actively working on.
You know it's bad when even in some of their promotional materials you can tell the framerate is obviously very low.
Honestly, if this isn't fixed by open beta, they should seriously consider delaying release until it is. You get one chance to make a first impression, and a game with an engine less optimized than SWTOR's really isn't a very positive one.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Game dev control fps usually, even ping!if you hit say a ping of 16 ms (relativly easy for pro gamer)server will re flag you,fps is at 160 fps?you ll also be redflagged by server!it will likly implement a max fps and max ping wich has you probably know will make your gaming experience awfull.most of the time those setting are per ms recommendation.as you probably also know ms is very conservative in their setting.if you regedit a bit ?you might not be surprised to find some setting are hurtfull for you intended application.why throttle?because there isnt enough bandwith for everybody, and cable iindustry have been saying it for years,1080i should be the max for online.computer user always ignored cable(yep me too)but the fact is even today 1080i is still the upper limit.above that?you wont like your pvp.
I will admit, as much as I like Wildstar the current beta has been nothing but problems for me. The last time I tried I had no major issues, occasionally I d/c or had an FPS drop. This time I log in, notice my FPS is around 25, I have been able to run it maxed out around 60 fps before, and I run forward to attack a monster, it glitches out and constantly glitches between me and the point it was at, gaining and losing agro. Then I get d/c. Over and over and over. Every 30 seconds. I heard it was just the server I was on (one of the pvp ones) but still. I hope they can fix all of this by the time the game launches.
I got a beta key last night and performance has greatly improved for me. I get a decent framerate if I don't get too greedy with the settings. They still need to work on performance, as it should be easily runnable with most stuff maxed, excepting perhaps the view distances, given the simple graphics. Sub 60 FPS is so the 90s these days.
Runs like butter for me on my older single-card solution. So far, everyone I talked to in-game with frame rate issues had SLI, which leads me to believe the issue is specific to certain drivers and/or hardware setups. Those kinds of issues affect quite a few AAA released games, but fortunately it's the kind of thing that ultimately gets fixed in nearly all cases.
I would suggest disabling SLI temporarily for a test and see what happens. Also set all 3D driver settings to default.
Wildstar does have some FPS issues, its been getting better but I keep noticing quite some inconsistency while playing it with a gtx 680. It's a huge turn off to be honest but at least they're making some progress.
Otherwise it's a very complete game, lots to do, can't wait to jump in a PVP server. I still have to get used to the cartoonish look of it. Specially with all the furry Auri? walking around, that "cute" race is clearly meant to draw the attention of the emo's lol. Chua look amazing and fun, Auri are "pretty" just for the sake of being "pretty".
Character creation is pretty weak, specially on the male versions. The female char customization seems much more diverse and better overall.
Also the anti-aliasing in the game is horrible, the fxaa isn't enough. They removed the option of making Render Scale higher in these last BETA's, that fixed the AA tremendously for me before.
Other than this, Wildstar plays great and will keep me subbed for a long time.
It is blazingly obvious that launch date is locked down; whether the FPS issue or any other issues are fixed. Which is a worry imo.
And its not as though the end of June is an ideal launch window either - not so bad in the US but sales in EU will be miserable I suspect - most colleges are focused on exams.
Why? If I had to guess I would say it is "before E3 and Destiny". Vehicular combat being, it seems, just one of the things that will be unveiled.
I have been in the last four beta weekends with fps issues. I would have bought the game if not for the issues. I sit around 20 to 30fps in most areas going up to 30 plus in others. Over the last 4 weekends playing I have not seen any improvement. I will give it one more shot when open beta hits and check on performance. If its good I will order the game if not back to my private server I'm playing on.
If you check the general forums there is a thread on this issue that has been open for the last few beta weekends. It's over 19 pages last I looked and lots of the people having issues have good to great PC's. I hope they fix this so I can join all of you next month.

I'm in the same boat and the performance issues keep me from buying the game. I don't think that anything will change until release and optimisation will be a crawling process over which they will lose many players.
I kept following that 19 pages thread for a while, hoping for a dev to post something that goes beyond we are aware of the issue, but in this case the "devs don't seem to listen".
There was an increase in performance in some areas for sure but overall the game needs more optimization. It has everything to be a great MMO but if the framerate is choppy, doesn't matter how good the game is.
At least it feels responsive, the camera movement seems great too. In SWTOR the camera movement seems heavy somehow and when the FPS decreases it impacts gameplay heavily aswell. Wildstar doesn't seem to suffer from the same issue, its just inconsistent framerate overall.
I was a bit surprised the game was being released this early, I thought it would only be available after the summer, that would give them plenty of time. Guess time is out, they need to launch it and I doubt they can fix this issue by launch.
Hopefully with proper GPU drivers and further optimization the game will actually be as smooth as silk.
Battlegrounds run great gladly, that will keep me entertained for a long time, probably until I reach level cap.
Yes, the game has severe FPS problems at the moment, and many of us are on the fence about buying for that reason alone but, are you here to complain about that? Or is it about the poor CS? Or about your post being deleted? Or about all the bots in ESO?
Anyways good for Carbine on deleting your post. If you happen to notice new posts about that subject are created on a regular basis. Check General Discussion, there is a post about this same issue 15 pages long. I'm pretty sure Carbine has read about this problem and we could assume they are working on it for release. There is really no need to create yet another boring inane post about it on the forums.
I know most people that posts in forums pretty much believe they are entitled to a personal response from the developers. I mean "it's me, I'm special, the developers should answer MY post directly! Oh wait there's another post that talks about the exact same thing I'm posting about. Should I post there? Naaahhh... I'm special, they should read MY post and answer TO ME."
I find it hilarious that you even wrote to CS about it. Like, like OMG I want to speak to the Manager! Call your supervisor!!!1! this is outrageous!11!1!!!!
Customer service etiquette would prompt moderators to merge similar topics instead of deleting them, unless you are completely unconcerned with the typical reaction one has to having their post deleted and in that case, customer service is not your number one priority. Pretty sad really, when MMOs are 50% product, 90% customer service, even more so when it is subscription based.
Hmm I thought Wildstar preformed just as well as any other recent MMO i have played... My setup is i7 4770k @4.4Ghz and GTX 780 Ti @ 1202Mhz and I have been playing the game at 5760x1200 res on ultra high settings and getting 40-60FPS.. (Other than one random room where I had 20FPS). That is pretty much the same FPS I get in FFXIV, ESO and rift on max settings.
I had similar problems with the FPS, and I was running it on a Core i7-4771 CPU, an EVGA NVidia GeForce 690 GTX (dual-GPU graphics card), 32 GB RAM, and a Samsung 840 PRO SSD on a ASUS Z87 Deluxe MOBO. I can run ESO at "Very High" on a 32" monitor with 2560 x 1600 resolution no problem, I can run Final Fantasy XIV at Maximum settings with no issue, I can crank up Diablo III: Reaper of Souls to its max setting and get fantastic frame rates, but I can't get that cartoony piece of shite known as Wildstar to keep a steady frame rate, especially if I enter a town and move toward a crafting station where the number of players usually increases.
I'm not happy that I feel this way about Wildstar at all. I really wanted to like this game, I've been following news about it for years and I was so excited when they were finally at a point where they could allow people to try it out in beta events. I felt that interviews with members of Carbine, so full of confidence and bravado and a distinct cocky swagger, were an indication that Wildstar was going to be an epic and entertaining experience. Boy was I wrong. No wonder they're taking it hard now. Now I think they just look like assholes.
Carbine should be scared. The last game to release that was not "Optimized" was FFXIV and it failed. you couldnt run that game on top of the line PC. Thankfully Square didnt abandon us and we got a good game in the end. However, they had to COMPLETELY redo the whole engine... I'M with the author in thinking that this is a much DEEPER issue that a few tweaks will not fix. so sad too, i have a lot of friends playing but i dont want to be left feeling like i wasted my money. I'll be waiting till after launch to purchase this one
I had hoped the optimization issues had been fixed since I last played the beta a couple of months ago but I'm still getting low fps on medium settings . I have a decent enough gaming PC not top range but it plays games like Rift at around 50 to 60 fps in the open world on Ultra which is a game that is pretty poorly optimized too . I ran Elder Scrolls recently on Ultra too with no problem. I decided to run it on a laptop I have which is nowhere near as powerful as my desktop and I managed to run it Wildstar on medium and get around the same 20-30 fps in the open world as my desktop . I don't think I'll be buying it unless I can get to do a free trial first after release to see if its improved or not .

Here is a helpful post https://forums.wildstar-online.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27834-solution-fps-optimization-problems/ in case anyone is interested. The xp compatibility fix took my fps from 30ish to 60ish. Hopefully this link will help.
Glad I didn't pre-order!
Performance has gone worse With each beta weekend! Last weekend was at least somewhat playable With decent performance.
This weekend is absolutely terrible! Horrible framerates no matter how you configure Your GFX settings!
Not impressed at all.

Then wait until open beta. So simple.
Btw ppl dont worry, you wont loose your money by buying a crap game which is still in beta, like some others newly released.
WS at least will have a 7 days trial to check if it fits you. If it doesn't you will just pass it. That's all
