The Secret World's Mankinigate is done and gone. However in all the coverage, there's never really been enough said for me about the in game store available to The Secret World players. I have choices to be making. Do I want to fight evil while dapper in a suit? Do I want to wear a pretty little off the shoulder number? Do I want to be a cosmonaut? Admittedly some of the choices are stranger than the others, but the choices remain.

Customizing your look is one thing a lot of MMOs get WRONG. I always thought City of Heroes did it best. Imagine a Fantasy MMO with the character builder of COH? That would be pretty sexy...
And I agree Flizzer the combat ruins this game. I am a Lifetimer so I still login every now and then but I can only take so much before I get sick of the combat.
Nice column. TSW is indeed great on cosmetics. Though LotRO has a much wider range on this matter, both on items and on options, but those are "just" lore-appropriate items.
As you wrote, in TSW you can dress up your character to your actual mood of the day, with modern-day's items. It was great when I found during the first winter a similar trenchcoat I wear irl, and put that on my character as well - with the matching pants and hoodie I wrote earlier that I'm not a big cosmetic fan, I usually only care about the looks on my rp characters, but in TSW you have to fiddle with cosmetics, at least a little, since the gear is invisible, so the general "I just wear anything that drops" approach of other mmos is not viable here.
edit: also agree with Fendel, Cryptic is usually doing an amazing job with character customisation, but I think CO has the widest array of options, with STO and CoH a close (shared) second.
hehe- one of the coolest things in this game- my character looks amazing and one of a few games with many alts to dress up as well!
those images ur showcasing arent doin justice!!!- i go to a dungeon in my pajamas n bunnie slippers damit!!!
TSW will always have a special place in my heart. Awesome atmosphere and some really great stories. However, I don't see it as a MMO anymore but rather an always online single player game with co-op and pvp trappings.
If only Funcom could provide an endgame that relied more on variety of activities and goals and less on gear treadmills.
With that said, I love the outfit system. Not perfect, but they've slowly been correcting the flaws.

nope. game is live n kicking! doin well, and new missions pack just arrived last month, and now tokyo (first expac) right around the corner...this game is rich is story and graphics, they just arent gonna popout halph ass content.-its takes a while.
dont judge a game status merely by reading a fun casual topic a writer decides to write about- do a bit of homework before commenting the lack of the game- just shows pure lazyness on ur behalph.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
one by best MMORPG on market ,
abouth clothing ,this game is atractive for peoples with some fethishism
I think it was simply a courtesy of avoiding spoilers, that's why the random BS (for example there's no dragon at the wisdom of Solomon's 6:15). Obviously it was a reference of Kingsmouth Code, but that mission is not that straightforward, nor that simple
I'm somewhat agree with eric_w66, Hyborian girls are better indeed... maybe the Filth, or the fast food, the electrosmog and other environmental hazards are behind the issue - or not, since the NPC's are fine, only the player character faces are a bit "unusual" (a.k.a. fugly ). Luckily with some effort you can create a (pretty much) decent one.
The central problem with TSW is that in order to pad the game out, combat takes too long.
In other words, the 'clunky' combat isn't a 'fault' - it's an intentional time sink.
I think Elite: Dangerous should be a surprise hit because the 'routine' gameplay is the focus.
Well it is still a pale shadow compared to CoH and to be honest in the arena of modern day clothing APB:R have it beaten hands down... Not that anything else works in that game but the options open to someone to make a character "their own" are endless.
It is with some irony that i look back at my first beef with Blizzard. One that kept me from WoW for a good amount of time. That was how poor their crafting system was compared to the game i was playing at the time... SWG. Gain not much else worked in that game either.. But you had some good options for how to look.
This have been a good conversation
I am back playing it again, what is wrong with it and Windows 8? I haven't run into anything yet, but, just curious if I need to watch for something?

I love being able to customize your outfits. I have made various sets for when I go to a specific zone. I have a winter set for the last zone in Transylvania and a summer heat set for Egypt. It's nice that the gear you have in game has no effect on your appearance so you can look how you want.
While other games do or have started to do this TSW still does it the best.

I loved the Secret Worlds clothing system. Remember watching a review and took some shades at creation just so I had em for later since you can swap everything on the fly. You'd pick up all that clothing from quests like that track and field hoodie I ended up wearing or some jacket from Egypt which was a nice touch. I would complete decks just for the outfits.
There was so much stuff available in the shops in London it made my head spin browsing em.
Love this game! It's my primary MMO. I log in and play every day. Mostly PvP or dungeons but also like the events. The clothing options are the best of the handful of MMOs I've played. I've got a small but decent wardrobe and always make sure to financially support the game because I have so much fun in it.
Playing Now: The Secret World, Guild Wars 2, Neverwinter
Playing soon: Landmark beta, Swordman beta
The last clothing update was Mankini-gate...more than 5 weeks ago.
They'd better go large with Tokyo.
