no, but the instanced small scale/40man/arena all have seperate pvp currencies and gear
I think I just vomited a little.
So this is another themepark PvP with just instanced PvP minigames that are nothing but gear grind.
At least from beta (up to lvl 10) I can already state there's also absurd diminishing returns, and if the ranged player isn't completely stupid melee won't ever reach the ranged player

blind/confuse/tether/disarm CC's add a lot to pvp, and melee get some good movement powers to get into range in a small 1v1/2v2 setting. There are some mobs that are hostile to you, that you can become neutral with in questing areas, so questing has some benefits if you're an open world pvper.

Oh gut, I'm getting excited here, please tell me this means that pvp gear is only usable inside the pvp instances, but in open world pvp you need to use "normal" gear?
I HATE the instanced gear grind but love open world pvp, so it usually means that it's first fun (owpvp) but after people farm BG's for a while they have so much more powerful gear that owpvp becomes futile against them and I quit since I cant upgrade through owpvp due to complete lack of rewards (WoW style games).

Nope sorry, it's just like Wow, you can use your gear anywhere.

Meh... Is there any proper rewards for open world pvp though? So you can stay viable without having to grind instanced content every night?

The highlighted comment is what I found to be true too. I wasn't happy about that, the warrior leap ability should not have to be aimed, it should leap to target rather than leap to a static position. - it doesn't need to do damage, but stun effects or interupts would be appropriate. less than 10 second cd too.

There is not at this time, besides there being so many variables to just randomly stumbling upon someone in world Pvp. I'd suggest that you should get a group together and do instanced Pvp sparingly so that you don't feel its "grindy" and that should be plenty enough for you to do fine in the open world. Now if you want to outfit yourself with really good Pvp gear, then you're going to need to make more of a commitment to it.

I'm not a big fan of instanced pvp, it's okay every now and then but it's not something I start playing mmo's for. I love the randomness of open world pvp, it being more personal and social experience.
Open world pvp is the content that makes you mentioned on realm forums etc, I'm not saying I seek attention through it, but some of my best "forum friends" in vanilla wow was from the opposing side through world pvp, and the whole community experience is just so much bigger and fun than simply doing pvp for the sake of pvp and gear alone.
I think I'm going to give it a shot though, who knows how things unfold, I'm pretty much done questing in ESO, was fun while it lasted. Wildstar questing feels kinda bad for me but it has a lot more variety in the end, and realm communities through separate servers, yay for that

Actually my stalker can catch them spellslingers and espers quite nicely.

you only got to level 10, if both players have the skill ranged vs melee is a fair fight. obviously with only being able choose from 8 or 9 abilities at a time or whatever it is always possible someones build just beats yours, but i mean thats chess for ya, if everyone had an equal chance against everyone we all end up just running around hitting each other with nerf bats accomplishing nothing
Do you like lollipops? Suck it. Don't bite you greedy twit.

So what you are looking for is Open World PvP were all gear drops, where the people who are decked out with stuff will always win and can pray on the weak? You know, a brainless gank fest where no one new can get anywhere? Just the vibe I get when i see anyone claiming about open world PvP. Its always hilarious how its pretty much something people who enjoy griefing want and those people tend to make those games quickly flush down the drain making it difficulty for new people to even get involved. But meh, probably me over-reacting to a rather over-bloated reaction.
None the less, if you are bad, then yes you will get picked off by range. Stalker in particular pretty much destroyed anyone in PvP without much brain power, Esper being the only real class I've seen able to tangle with them with much more finesse needed to do so (granted its >30 I'm judging). A good melee will be able to do some work on ranged classes pretty easily. You got a lot more tools to catch up, and often once a melee is on a ranged, its very difficult for them to break away and they can easily be torn apart.

The game never claimed to be anything but a typical themepark, not sure why you thought differently... It's always been touted as such....
Only game I can see that has maybe what your trying to get at is Archage?
Honestly, I wish Wildstar didn't have PvP at all, and the PvP crowd just went to play another game.
High chances that trying to please the PvPtard crew will just ruin the PvE balance, just like it's happened in WoW ever since they introduced arenas.
Please do spread out the word about how crap of a PvP game Wildstar is. You'll do many of us a great favour. And I'm not even trolling, being ironic or sarcastic. It's the truth. The least PvPers in Wildstar, the better the game will be at what it really tries to be.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion.

Nice attitude. If someone tags along and begins to bash on PvE players after this, cant really blame them.

Actually, they aren't trying to be just a Pve game, the Pvp part isn't just tacked on. They want the competitive players, the elitists, the trash talkers and the Pvp in this game promotes a lot of that, with rankings and leaderboards included. This isn't a new announcement or a concession for people who want to Pvp, it's a big part of the game. You can avoid almost all things Pvp by just rolling on a Pve server.
I'm not a hardcore pvp player, but I like to dabble. So far, pvp seems fun, some balancing issues needed but in my experience... there always is. War plots im very much looking forward to.

They have suggested there will be PvP servers with Free for all rule sets.. not sure if it's confirmed though.

Melee classes will need some decent gap closers.
