Just received my email to say that I have just paid for my first months subscription. More fool me for not cancelling earlier. So they got an extra £8.99 out of me, ah well.
I really wanted to enjoy this MMO, even purchasing the collectors edition, but ultimately wasn't having as much fun as I am having in Archeage and Wildstar - and that's what it's all about isn't it - the fun? For me anyways.
Anyone else promptly cancelled their sub on receipt of the email?

no one should really care who has or hasnt subscribed you need to do what you think is fun. Personaly I have unsubed but I am very hardcore and was at v10 which I imagine a lot of less hardcore players havent reached yet. I am sure a lot of players need another month to get to end game but unfortunetly I have unsubed its a fun game but its more of a clear it out and move on type of game for me no real thrills just some good times grinding.
Darkfall has spoiled me for other games its really hard to play other games after experienceing true skilled combat and full loot pvp other games dont give me the rush so I end up playing for a month and then re subbing to darkfall as I am right now till wildstar who knows what will happen then :P
I want to thank you for taking time out from WS and AA to make a post here telling everyone you canceled ESO.

I actually canceled mine before it re-subbed.
I don't have any of this hate for the game that's been going around, I just simply got tired of it... I'd consider coming back if the game improves in the future though.

In a totally unscientific poll at work, of the 28 people that bought the game, 22 have not subbed once the free month was up (even tho the "free month" was only 28 days or whatever, Zeni tried to put one over on them).
Of the remaining 6, 4 plan to cancel after this next month.
The overwhelming majority (24) think the game was not worth the full box price.
All but one person was of the opinion that while the game wasn't terrible, it was nothing great, either, and that if one were to judge it as an ES game, it would be among the bottom titles in the entire series.
Every single person said it could have used another 6 months of development.
Take that for what you will.
(Disclaimer: I personally did not buy after playing a couple of the beta weekends).
not me, i'm still having fun.
I cancelled my upcoming subscription my second day of playing.
I enjoy the game, but not enough to justify a monthly sub, I'd rather save that money for another game.
I still have 3 months on my time but I did close out my subscription as Wildstar with be out prior to completion of that time and FFXIV now has more of my friends online with the addition of PS4 system players.
That being said it's not really helpful to make a forum list of old/quit players.
I did cancel, but I hadn't planned to originally. I was having fun and levelling slowly while trying to enjoy myself as I hate rushing to end game. The game did start to get a little tiring though as I felt like I was doing the same things over and over again with a slight difference in story. The deciding factor was actually (people might hate me for this) Archeage. I told myself I wouldn't buy into as I was disappointed they had decided to the F2P route, but I though about it some more and really I didn't care too much.
Bought the archeum package, joined a guild and I am having some of the best fun I've ever had in an MMO. Told myself I should keep playing ESO but I just didn't have the will or desire to after playing Archeage. Anyway, that wasn't the point in this post, not trying to give mad props to Archeage. But yeah my subscription hasn't continued, my time in ESO lasted less than I though it would I will admit.
Also did not wait the full 30 days - cancelled weeks ago - Not an MMO I feel will last very long until F2P anyway...
.No player housing -
No player retention ( nothing to keep you coming back again and again )
Crafting is outrageously long compared to leveling...
requires to find books to learn!!! - at least you don't pay to learn a skill lol (Bad mistake to use crafting as an exploration tool or selling tool)
Very limited space in both bags and bank for the numerous items needed for crafting, enchanting, alchemy....Etc....oh to get more space buy it (seriously bad move)
Mounts about worthless - can't fight while mounted, speed only slightly faster than walking, using wayshrines so much faster when moving across map..
Not an MMO worth Subbing......Sorry I ever wasted the money for the pre-order!!
This guy is hardcore
This is one of the major selling points of the game for me. There are plenty of games out that you can click a button and be a max level crafter along with everyone else in game. I'm glad you left this one so, hopefully, this aspect won't change.
Re: The crafting. You don't need any books to learn to craft. The books you speak of teach you different styles but you are given the style of your race and can craft that all the way to max level, it really makes no odds. The books are purely cosmetic in that they allow you to craft what you already know in different styles but, again, you do not need them.
By level 37 on my main, I had found all the standard styles many times over - my BS and Clothier have learned them all, plus I have sold loads - and I have also found one of the Imperial books. They have cut back on the amount of drops now, so I may get one every 2 or 3 days as opposed to the 2 or 3 a day I was getting before, but they are neither rare or necessary.
Disappointingly, the three times I have had a guildie ask for a bespoke piece of gear, when I have asked them what style they prefer they have all replied "not bothered" or WTTE, so not only is it not a necessity, it isn't even a selling point....yet.
On topic - I subbed.
Nope, I'll still be playing this awesome game for quite a few months.
It's going to be such a pleasure watching the game stabilise and grow over the coming months. So much to look forward to !
