Who cares, game wont be on steam, they can keep it.

Boycotting EA. Why? They suck, even moreso since 2008.

As huge a fan as I am of the series, I refuse to pay nearly $200 for a pretty box with rather meaningless stuff in it. Sure some of the things (the figures) are cool but I'd rather have a comprehensive art book and even a "making of" DvD than some of that junk. Adding insult to price injury is also the fact that, at least according to anything I've see so far, buyers don't even get the cool in-game stuff that the digital deluxe version gives.

Nope, I'll be keeping my $170 and will pick one up when they go on sale a few months later.

Cleaning my shelf recently I found games I didn't even remember I had as special edition. Fancy metal boxes and such, and now I wonder - what for? To collect dust? Might be able to sell some on ebay, but unless they are super-rare or a game with cult-status, I won't make "any money on it", thus I can just as well throw them out and buy them for 5$ on GOG and not have to use a disc if I ever want to play them again.

So, for me, this one will be a pass, as will any other special-uber-mega edition in the future.

Thats the thing, all these new editions come with extra items that are limited production which cost more to produce.  I bought CE for Diablo's standard and ROS at  $80.00 which is a solid purchase, and used to buy many more at that price tag as well, going up to $100.00

Now, these are getting out of hand from Bioware with $150.00+ for nothing.  Insane.

    I'm "kind of" with you.

Still, not one to judge what others do with their own money. Personally, I can't justify the extra money for "toys".

I'd rather use it for anything else.

Why should we boycott them? What are these special editions hurting?

If you dont think the package is worth the money then, fine, dont buy it. But there are other people that will want and appreciate the extras included.

Dont assume that your values are the values of all gamers.

Why are you so bothered about how fans of something spend their money?  It is just like me trying to stop my friends from buying a Prada or Feragamo hand bag. I won't buy for myself, a 12 euro hand bag from a flea market  is more than enough for me but they enjoy buying things like that. They buy expensive sweaters I make my own. I love doing that and they like to splurge on a designer item instead. Different strokes.

People love to spend money on things they like and collect items from their hobbies. I have a collection of Neil Gaiman's cards from his Sandman series that sit in a drawer all nicely in slip covers and I think I have not even looked at them for an age but I ran out and got them when they came out years ago.

Why boycott something just because you do not want to buy it ? I am at a loss as to why people are so mean these days that they must try to stop others from taking pleasure in enjoying their hobbies.

Luckily the stuff you get seems to be all about real life crap that I personally don't give a damn about.

I'm sure someone out there would be interested in things like that though, all the power to them. Just happy they don't get to play tons more of the actual game.

Honestly, I could care less if people want to buy it or not. If I had the ready cash or, more accurately, felt that spending nearly $200 was a good use of my available resources, I'd get it just to say I had it. If others can, more power to them.

As for me, I will not and will stick to, as Sovrath so ably put it "the "I just want to play the damn game" edition."

How about when Game Companies decide to raise game prices from 60 to let's say 75$ for just the game, because people buy stuff like this.....you see every time something like this sells, you just justify them making it cost more and more.

And they will continue to make this kind of stuff, because sells justify the means...

If you have the money and really love the uber edition go for it. I like collector's editions myself but for this Bioware title I'm going for the $10 bump to a Deluxe Edition. I'll also go for the  preorder to get the extra weapons which works for me.

  • XerenixXerenix Member UncommonPosts: 237
While i do have money to buy this, nothing in it interests me. I'll be pre-ordering the Deluxe edition instead since it has the same ingame content as this edition

That's just cray cray. I just started Dragon age this week and am really enjoying it but didn't DA2 fail hardcore? Are people willing to shell $160 on a game that may be just as bad? o.0
