It is called ANTVR  KIT. its in kickstarter and omfg it looks insane. The controller is built in and is built to be more than one controller. Just look it up and you will see what I mean. I may have to back this one. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/805968217/antvr-kit-all-in-one-universal-virtual-reality-kit

Once someone demonstrates that something is possible, people will start to hop on the idea. :-)

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

according to these guys they have the product finished they just need the funding for production. guess we will see. Im being cautious though. Looks kind of  gimmicky but I guess that remains to be seen.

Awesome. I hope these things that they are developing come out affordable before I'm dead! I'm not getting any younger!! :)

All these new VR things are stupid and are going no where. How do I know? They will never be as good as VIRTUAL BOY!!!!

    (sarcasm of course)

My issue with this is how spontaneous it came into fruition and how unreliable it looks. We have two multimillion backed virtual headsets (Morpheus and Oculus Rift) already taking up a lot of this hardware's potential. All we are seeing now are companies taking the boom in interest and regurgitating ideas that may or may not push the limitations of the hardware. More power to these guys, but I speculate many others will try and somehow make money off of the virtual reality surge until it becomes a saturated market dictated by an elite few. This, to me, is starting to look just like the MOBA boom. Everyone wants to make one now in hopes of creating a quick profit. Also, another strife about this is the origin of the device: China; which is known for bootlegged technology and poor technical intuition. It's not a lash at racial preference, but there is plenty of evidence of the unreliable and cheap ways the companies there produce and steal ideas. I'd like to see the market for virtual reality flourish, but we will also witness many cons, rip-offs, and mimics.

Field of view ----- 100°diagonal, 4:3 aspect ratio

    Display ----- 1920x1080 LCD  ?

A 1920 x 1080 16:9 aspect ratio LCD to display a 4:3 aspect ratio image? Well ok then, I'm sold.

Seems very cheaply made to me, their aspect ratio for 1920x1080 doesnt make sense to me and they have a lot of gimmicky adds and promotional shite.

I am glad there is competition and I hope this is like 100-200$ then it may do well, but if it thinks it will direct compete with oculus I really doubt it.

Also this is just not necessary and simply provokes the competition with something they have no ability to prove as of yet, nor the reviews to back up the statement. Seems like a dick move to me.

That's not even the largest innovation of this headset. It uses "Output ----- USB-2.4GHz and Bluetooth", but "The headset DOES NOT emit or receive any radio waves. So don't worry!"

One also must appreciate the Chinese innovation of building a wired device that requires batteries. It's a fresh break to the Western tradition of having power run in the cord when you have a cord attached to the device anyway.

I think that the amount of R&D that must have been put into this terrific product can be summed up by the project creator's words: "I created the first ANTVR KIT prototype all by myself last year"

EDIT: It should be also pointed out that "Reading text on the device is very convenient and clear", and that convenience is expressed by having wireless version of the headset permanently attached to the controller part with a wire. /EDIT

It's almost like reading these newspaper ads that for a limited time ONLY! they are willing to give you $17 dollars of currency for only $99 to cover the shipping and handling. If you really want to splurge they will sell you 10 of these packages for only $89.

What about latency, and motion blur/persistence? What about the head tracking? I dunno, looks like a cheap knock off of the Oculus.

glad to see people are now debating over WHICH VR device will win the battle rather than IF VR will be popular now :)

Just kills me how all these 20-30 year olds are so amazed and act like this is the best thing ever.

We had this crap in the 80's it turned out to be a short lived fad, just like it will be this time.

Once you try and do a 6, 8, 10 hour gaming session wearing this thing strapped on your face, it will get real old real fast.

At least the ones in the 80's came with stands so you could rest the weight on your desk.

And I still say medically you are a moron if you strap one of these things to your head for extended periods of time.

LoL if you think the 80's version was like this well you are wrong.

The 80's version was a cheap thing like the 3d glasse's in red and blue. Look at nintendo version of VR it was a joke there product and did not last long on the market.

Here we are speaking true VR ( or almost ) where it is like be inside the game looking true the eye's of your character. You move your head left or right up and down and the view change at the same time. You don't even notice a screen around you. That is the difference.

Anyways not to start a debate on the thing but i do hope it is as good as Occulus that would say that once 1 or both product out the cost of the items will go down. ( competition )

That's like arguing that newspapers can never be popular due to how expensive it's to produce papyrus.

Technology evolves. The VR headsets today aren't bound by as strict limitations as 80's attempts were.

What you had in 80s was crap indeed. What we have now is revolution and future of entertainment. See the difference?

Does look a bit top heavy...Can't wait till lighter/intangible interfaces are realized (Or a google glass app :O) - all them cords and extra weight is a turn-off.

That Chinese model sure is a cutie though...

I love VR I really do.

But ever since the 80's the older I get the less appealing it seems to me. Maybe it's the full body motion, I just want to come home from a hard day at work or have been working at home to sit myself down and relaxe with a game. I do my exercises outdoor and sometimes indoor (gym). But don't need or want a game for that.

I had a different opinion in my 20's. I do want a VR set but not one I need to use my whole body with.

You do realize fighter pilots wear headgear/helmets in the military for hours on end, be it through training sorties or actual combat. Same type of technology is used to link heads up info to them. I don't see a problem at all.

Does Zenimax plan to sue them as well?

I wouldn't worry Zenimax will destroy VR but as a reminder, Zenimax is evil

In the tech sphere I am unclear exactly how one would try to equate technology of the early 90s to what is possible now.

In 1995 kodachrome, cassette tapes, and records and bookstores were still around, CDs just reaching maturity, DVDs just starting out, Blockbuster video still renting VHS, the first cell phone was created.

anyone old enough to have memories in 1995 should be able to know how stupid it is to equate technology of 1995 to 2015
