Transistor, the visually and aurally arresting follow up to Supergiant Games’ Bastion, is a perfect example of what an indie developer can do when not beholden to the whims of chairmen and stockholders. Transistor is a gorgeous, witty, emotionally resonant, and has one of the most unique and enticing combat systems we’ve played in years. Read on for our full review, and see why it trumps its predecessor in many ways.

What about $60? a la every COD & Battlefield title. There is multiplayer, but campaign is only 5 hrs. Maybe the multiplayer is where the other $40 comes in

Well, you just sold this game.
-Very well written article, I hope I agree.
ooh a new MMORPG review from MMORPG.com!
If you can't get over the fact that the site covers games other than MMORPGs now, then just LEAVE. Getting sick and tired of you people acting like smartasses every time a non-MMORPG article or review is posted. Go somewhere else if it bothers you so fucking much. Sheesh.
On topic, bought the game at release and so far it's been pretty fun. I'm one of the users having problems with stuttering though, so I'm waiting for a patch or two before trying the game again so I can experience it as intended.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure there was some DLC for Bastion. Forget what it was off the top of my head though. IIRC it was only one piece, something to do with challenges.
Really wish more games used high quality 2D art like this. Looks great and doesn't require cutting edge tech to run well.
AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Problem I see is if you show game devs you are willing to spend $20 on a 5 hour game, expect the next one to be 2 hours and cost $40.
Great Review. Honestly the time spent on the game the first go around really depends on the amount of difficulty you're willing to down. If you play with no Limiters (offensive abilities given to the enemy) its easy and short, if you play with full Limiters its hard and slow going.
The game lets you play as you wish. Don't care about the story and lore hidden in the functions? Then just find a really good combo and have at it. But if you want to learn more you have to find different combos to get your through each fight to unlock more lore.
Problem I see is if you are not willing to spend $20 on a 5 hour game, I don't know how an indie developer is supposed to afford to eat, let alone have the money they need to do a 20 hour game.
If you have a job, and the game sounds good, buy it.
I've played 8-10 hour games that would have been better as 5-6 hour games (bioshock 1...)
are gamers literally begging for quantity over quality? sigh
I'm a gamer rebel! I demand both. Skryim and Witcher come to mind immediately. And, yes, I am not a huge fan of Indie games. I generally feel they are not done as well and lack in length. Call me evil. I generally prefer games made by the big names.
Its 20 bucks. That's the price of 1.5 to 2 movies at the cinema depending on your demographic or a middle-class night out to dinner for 1.
Stop being such cheapskates.
I paid 69 bucks for streets of rage 2 when that came out in the early 90s. And I can beat it in under 3 hours and it was worth every penny.
Wow, speaking of entitled; you ever read your own comments their buddy?
lets start with the fact that the theater industry is dying a slow painful death due to the majority of the population feeling/deeming that 20$ is a bit too much for a movie.Let us also make a note of the fact that "value" is decided by the consumer not by you and your degrading attitude.
You also mention a middle class dinner. It must be nice to live in a fantasy world where one does not constantly hear of the diminishing middle class. As such your comment states that a minority can purchase said title and thus everyone should. Do you see a flaw in your "logic"?I am 35 years old and work 65-70 hours a week in order to live a comfortable lifestyle. Perhaps because of this i have a distinct sense of what my money and time are worth. I would never brag about wasting money, it makes one look like a *child*
I am also not stupid, ignorant or childish enough to simply blow money because i have it.I wonder if this will be removed again, (due to my lack of support for wasteful spending). Gotta love censorship.
