Yeah you can log 2 diff accounts in at the same time - if your hardware can handle it :-)

    - Just run the game again hehe... But you can't log 2 chars from the same account though.

    DAoC.

Yeah, as was stated above you can run 2 instances of the game at once easily, but it does require having 2 accounts. You can't log the same account on twice. I can't remember the command offhand, but there is a command that sets the client to inactive when it isn't the active window... Basically if it is running in the background it doesn't do anything, so if you're flipping back and forth between windows (while running 2 accounts) the one in the background isn't doing anything and therefore requires far less resources from the PC, making it less taxing on your hardware.

You can run 2 instances of the game, but you must have 2 accounts.

And you better have one BEEFY system if you try it that or tweak the graphics and sounds WAY down so your system doesn't die under the strain.  Also, the client will tell you right up front that it's not really designed to duo-instance the game, wierd things CAN (and sometimes do) happen.  Anytime you double-instance the game make sure you REBOOT after you're finished playing.  I've seen WIERD things happen the few times I double instanced the game.  (Did it recently when I found my old account info to move stuff off the new account to my old one).

Ok, found the command I was referring to...

Ingame you can type "/clientsleep background" and when the window in question isn't the active window (on top) the client will "sleep", using FAR less of your computers resources. Basically instead of running 2 clients its almost like you're running 1 or 1.5 or so. You can also do "/clientsleep minimized" which will put the client into sleepmode if you minimize the window. Both are VERY handy if you're running 2 instances of the game at once or are playing while doing something else on the computer (like when I'm playing from work). :)

Sweet!  I never knew about that command.  Not that I ever bother double instancing really.  Only time I did it was recently when I found my old acct and rerolled all my new toons on it and deleted and cancelled the old acct.

But it's definitely a cool feature for those who do run 2 instances.  Personally I never understood the urge people have to "dual box" but whatever :)

I used to do it all the time, still do occasionally. It was almost never for a buffbot though, usually I would be crafting on one and adventuring on the other.

    Kunou,

Not that this really refers to running double instances, but I'm curious about something. Is there a way to stay logged into the game if I'm idle for like 10-15 minutes? Sometimes my daughter will want me to read her a book or play with her for a little bit while I'm playing DAOC, but I hate having to logoff the game if I'm in a group or whatever.

Is there some setting in the game that won't log me off after being idle too long?

    Thanks.

    I have a method :)

I use a 'bobbing bird' to peck a key on my keyboard if I need to go afk and don't want to log out (especially if I'm in an ID or TD).

OMG you actually bought a bobbing bird?! DUDE! Just download a macro program. Its the same consequence if you get caught by a CSR having an unattended character function.

LOL I always wanted to try that though!

Nope it's not. A Bobbing bird is just pecking a key to prevent the idle disconnect. A Macro program is 3rd party software and is strictly prohibited :)

I'll occasionally use my Nostromo n52 gamepad to my crafting for me so i dont have to keep hitting buttons. I will, however, make sure I am close by for tells and other such things.
