The Graphics Are What Is Keeping Me From Playing This! Would Like 2 See Some Comparison With WOW

ImperatorBellusImperatorBellus Member UncommonPosts: 35

I don't know why some people are holding this game in such a high regard, like it is the second coming of great new mmo's! WildStar is like the rest, it is nothing but a WoW clone with better gameplay, I don't know if it is exactly better though. It just has more of an aiming system for ranged abilities but the melee is basically the same as any other generic Fantasy MMORPG.

I did enjoy WoW but I only logged about 520 hours on world of warcraft total, I am thinking of going back to it though, I thought this game would be better but I am really not liking the graphics, that is the main reason. I did try ESO but it is nothing but an anti social MMO with really repetitive PVP that gets boring quickly.

Anyway, graphics are important to me in a MMO, they don't have to be really really good but the graphics style is what is more important to me than quality, and this Pixar animation look alike game is really bad looking.

The environments in world of warcraft look much better, this game lacks detail and the environment looks really plain.

I would like to see some screenshot comparisons compared with wow using tweaked graphics or the graphics macro. Judging from these 2 videos, the more detailed environment wow has makes it feel a lot more immersive than wild star. WildStar Online is as saturday morning cartoon like as you can get and I hate that, I don't mind a mmo that merges realism and a cartoon style, WoW does this, Everquest next is doing it but wild star is the most childish MMO I have ever seen and for this reason, I will NEVER PLAY IT.

Better mmo's with better graphics like Everquest next will be out in 1-2 years anyway.

I think you may be missing the point of mmorpgs if you are basing a game off of it's graphics alone. I'm not into the cartoony look myself, but it is done very well. The music fits in with the world style, and you feel like you are in a Looney Tunes enviroment, but I have really started to like it.  To me this has a better look than WoW but on I more animated level.

I spent about 11k hours in wow and saw all areas and Wildstar graphics are a lot crisper and have better textures. both games have similar styling in fact wildstar really is a wow style environment with better graphics from a visual perspective.

    rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar

Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D

That's a lot of words for a game you will never play. Having fun...love the art style, gameplay and combat are fun so far, hub quests r hub quests...just a means of moving one through the game. I never got a toon to Max in WoW...I got bored after awhile, but I try every, crafting, etc. I like crafting my own gear as I go, so my play experience takes longer to progress, but I'd argue I am seeing more of the game then the peeps who haul ass for Max level.

Admkttedly, I am not far into the game. But so far, having funzies, gameplay is fun and without that, it's a movie.

All the flashing and moving parts in the backgrounds give me a headache looking at the screen.  That is my only complaint about the graphics.

The only way to know for sure would be to compare the environments/graphics in high resolution screenshot photos, with wow preferably using the graphics macro and on highest settings.

I still think this mmo is to plain looking compared to wow and lacks the graphical detail that wow has, this itself realy takes away from the immersion factor, you really felt part of the world and the epic sense of it running around in first person on wow using max settings and the graphics macro. Running around first person in wild star/3rd person feels like oyu are running through a loony tunes pixar childrens game wonderland and I hate that.

I still don't think this MMO is even worth playing considering that everquest next is 1-2 years away and that will most likely be a way better MMO than this, it already has better graphics and the gameplay will probably be better also.

Unfortunately the art style is just too similar to WOW, couldn't get past level 3 cause of it, need new art style/environments. Everquest Next is probably the only MMO I look forward to at the moment, shame it's so far away from launch.

Edit: Tried it during open beta.

If all you care about is graphics and not the game why dont you play Bioshock?

I'm just the opposite of you.

Graphics don't mean a lot to me, I'd actually prefer less than ideal graphics as it doesn't bog down my 5 yr old system.

As a game, WS feels more 'mature' than most MMOs I've played. I did my first battleground last night and the learning curve for this game is very steep. You can tell the difference between a good and bad player immediately just based on their aiming reticle and their ability to anticipate their opponents movement.

It seems to me that there has been a plethora of recently released games that you could get by just standing in a place spamming one key. This game does not allow you same luxury and forces you to be attentive to be successful. 'Childish' is definitely not the word I would use to describe it.

Its kind of a mixed bag.  WoW's graphics are also in a cartoon style, and Wildstar has better character models, particularly compared to WoW's original races.  Where I think WoW has the edge is in the world art.  Much of Nexus is very drab and uninteresting, a lot of empty space.  Even with maxed graphics, the eye candy is just not there.  Many regions of Azeroth are just so pretty, I have to stop and take it in - I haven't done that yet with WildStar.  And the newer art is even more impressive, as in Pandaria with its theme of ancient China.  I've only seen a few areas in the open Beta, and it may be better as it goes along, but so far I would agree - WoW has more appealing graphics overall.  An upgrade of the character models is in the works, too.  While I don't like cartoony graphics in general, I think WoW has done a better job of it.

Pictures really do not tell you what your looking for, you need to head over to YouTube and watch some content there, make sure its all high res and do the same with WoW.

Personally having played the WildStar beta I am still playing WoW  but, I can tell you it is not because of the graphics.  Wildstars graphics are a lot more defined, more textured and certainly have more sqeezed into that little Pixel then WoW is able too.

For me WoW is just a more polished game that offers me more for my $.  Many days I wish WoW had better graphics because it certainly does not push my video card anymore on max settings. You can see how aged Wow is after playing other games.

Same here. Like WOW, Wildstar has a unique graphic style, setting and soundtrack that all seem to work well together.

TBH that was a real shit comparison because you were in the oldest zone from WoW, should have taken a MoP zone which clearly looks better than Wildstar. But even that its more of a choice of style than anything else.

Where WoW really wins to all other MMOs are the flashy effects for skills and bigger charakter models / NPCs. Sadly they did IMO a real mistake on this part in Wildstar same as it was in Aion and other MMOs, they made the models so tiny and thin barely visible when you zoom a bit out /sigh ... Yea ok not barely visible but really too small :(.

Both games are good and both are different enough to have their own fanbase.

For me I always will go back for PvP in WoW, flashy effects, big models make everything so visible that you always can tell whats going on.

It's WoW you want to play right .So why are you posting this here on the Wildstar forum. Should you not ask WoW players  on the WoW forum to post these screenshots to help you play WoW.

Were your motives genuine or we you just posting this on a Wildstar forum to disparage a game you had no intention of playing but had to put down to salve some strange need you have.

Damn i used to see some wow fans going berserker after a MMO release. The usual deal. I used to be one.

But with Wildstar it's different. They are REALLY mad. DDOSING steamers, Viewbotting twitch, creating thread everywhere trying to convice their fellow to not abandon the ship. My guildmates that stay play wow dunno what to do (Looks like the next expansion is far from ready)

I have never seen such panic.

They dont understant that doing so is promoting the game even more, which is already good enough to self promote.

    Wont end well.

I agree. There is to much crap going on. I kinda like the world more peaceful. Kinda like the way WoW was before Cata patch.

Comparing Box Standard A to Tweaked B is hardly fair now, is it?

Why not compare Tweaked B with Box Standard A + something like SweetFX?

  • SonOfValmarSonOfValmar Member Posts: 49

    Just stop it already OP.

I understand that this is just a flame thread, hoping to induce some WildStar fans to foam at the mouth at the sheer absurdity of your beliefs, but really, you need to refine your game. No person who has the ability of sight could reasonably ascertain that World of Warcraft's graphics are comparable to WildStar's. Anyone who holds the position that WildStar's graphics are similar, or worse, when compared to WoW's are dealing in mental buffoonery (and why would you believe this? because they are "cartoony"? such a blanket description of a game's graphics earn you no points and only serve to make you look the fool).

    Another useless thread really.

  • RaquisRaquis Member RarePosts: 1,029

it looks AAA its priced AAA but its a zero.

luckily I am not that desperate for games anymore.

they will only fool new mmo players and people that hope its the new WOW and guess what its not.
